Pam Anderson Too Hot for NBC
So this is what the post-wardrobe-malfunction world has come to: NBC removed a steamy pole dance by former 'Baywatch' babe Pamela Anderson from an Elton John special which aired on primetime Monday night (Dec. 12).
The special, 'Elton John: The Red Piano,' was a taped version of John's Las Vegas extravaganza of the same name. The show featured a scantily clad Anderson dancing suggestively on a pole on a big screen while John sings the classic, 'The Bitch is Back.'
The number was deemed too hot for TV and was pulled by NBC's Standards and Practices department; perhaps unfortunately, it was pulled after the version with the number was already sent to critics for review.
In a statement to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for NBC said the network believed the dance was "not appropriate" for the time period and therefore pulled the performance from the special. TMZ contacted a rep for Anderson, but as of press time our call wasn't returned.
A video that did make it past the censors' ax however, featured a young Elton played by squeaky clean Justin Timberlake. Apparently ex-boy banders are more palatable then ex-Playmates.
