Murder Charges Against Rapper Dropped
(Dec. 31) -- Prosecutors dropped murder charges against rapper Gucci Mane on Friday, saying they did not have enough evidence to try him in the slaying of another rapper.
Mane had been accused in the May 10 shooting of Henry Lee Clark III, a rapper from Macon, Ga. He said he shot Clark in self-defense when Clark and four other men attacked him.
Mane is in jail in Atlanta after pleading no contest to assaulting promoter Troy Buffor with a pool cue in June. He was sentenced to six months and will remain on probation for 6 1/2 years. He also agreed to pay medical bills of about $3,000. Attorney Manny Arora said he should be released in January.
Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, released his debut album, "Trap House," in May. On the day of the release, he posted $100,000 bond in the murder case.
