Martin Short will find his way to Broadway this summer in the story of his life. Well, sort of.
His show, a cheeky autobiographical musical called, "Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me," will open Aug. 10 at a theater to be announced.
Short, who has appeared on Broadway in musicals such as "The Goodbye Girl" and a revival of "Little Me," co-wrote the book for "Fame Becomes Me" with playwright Daniel Goldfarb. It has a score by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, who provided the music and lyrics for "Hairspray." Shaiman will be in "Fame Becomes Me" as the show's on-stage musical director.
Casting for the musical's four other roles will be announced.
"Fame Becomes Me" will play out-of-town tryouts in San Francisco, April 25-May 21 at the Curran Theatre, and then Chicago, July 5-16 at the LaSalle Bank Theatre, before coming to New York, it was announced Tuesday.
The 55-year-old actor-comedian will appear in the film "The Santa Clause 3," starring Tim Allen, set for release later this year.
