Redskins superfan Ben Stein says he doesn't see why the team should have to change its name -- telling TMZ Sports, "They can call them the Toilet Bowl Cleaners if they would win some games!"

"Everyone knows that Native Americans are perfectly well understood and appreciated and valued in America," Stein said in Hollywood last night ... "It doesn't matter what the football team is called."

"What would be good is if they could win some games!"
