Ed Sheeran and Rick Ross on the same track? It just might happen ... so says the ginger king himself.

Our photog caught up with Sheeran over the weekend in New York City, and after a few questions about U.K./U.S. culture shock ... we asked if anything will ever come from his recent friendship with rapper Da Boss.

And much to our surprise ... Sheeran said yes!
