Rosie & Katie & Meredith ... Oh My!

8/25/2006 4:36 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Katie Couric, Meredith Viera, Rosie O'Donnell
Katie Couric, Rosie O'Donnell, and Meredith Vieira are all taking on high-profile new jobs this fall. So which of these leading ladies' debuts is America anticipating the most this fall? TMZ got the figures from Ask.com.

According to the search engine's stats, after Katie announced she would be taking the helm at the "CBS Evening News," searches for her name went up 23 percent. By comparison, when Meredith Vieira was tapped to take the seat next to Matt Lauer on "Today," her searches went up 63 percent.

But the media maven who takes the search engine cake is Rosie O'Donnell. When it was announced that Rosie would be joining the girls at "The View" and afterwards, during the Star Jones I'm-leaving-no-you-were-fired debacle, Rosie's searches skyrocketed a whopping 519 percent. That's huge, considering the impact Meredith and Katie are expected to have in their respective news outlets, and given the comparative size of "Today" and "Evening News."

Personally, we can't wait for September 5 when Rosie serves up juice and cookies at her first day on the job.

I loved the Rosie O'Donnell show. Yes, she did go off the deep end for awhile. I hope the old Rosie reappears on The View. If nothing else, we can expect her to speak her mind!

I am looking forward to seeing Meredith on Today and Katie on the CBS evening news, but I am not looking forward to seeing Rosie on the View. I just don't like her.

I can't stand Meriditz Viagra and am really going to miss watching Today in the mornings. The morning selections are really sucky these days.

Some folks feel very threatened by successful women, especially the ones who aren't attractive in the manner of Pam Anderson. I'm looking forward to seeing Rosie stir the pot on The View. I've never really been a fan of The View, but I'll be watching it now just to see the action, which I am sure will make daily headlines at tmz.com.

I miss Katie on "Today". I wish they would have given that spot to Ann Curry. I don't like Meredith or Rosie, so I doubt if I will continue to watch "Today", and I will never waste my time watching "The View". It is a bunch of hens screaming over each other, and it makes all of us women look bad. I will definately watch Katie on CBS News.

Don't care for any of them. Rosie was tolerable and joyful before she turned "mean" and had that fight with Tom Selleck. Katie is an abnoxious biased lib. Meredith has a kind heart but is also a biased lib. The Today Show cast seem really relaxed and relieved without Katie around - that speaks volumes.

I don't like any of those morning shows. They are all afraid to speak the truth. or what they really think. They hav little or no opinion. It makes me sick. I do not watch them. and soon they will all be gone. After all they are not movie stars. They say what they read. Nothing else. They only say what they read. I like Rosie.

Katie is an "abnoxious biased lib"??? What a joke.

I guess if a woman isn't a vile right wing spewing Bush ass kisser than she's "biased" in your little mind.

It's not surprising that Katie's job change elicited little interest. Evening newscasts have lost half of their audience in the last twenty years, and the average age of its viewership is 60 years; it's a dinosaur. When the Baby Boomers die, there will practically be no one watching evening news on broadcast television.

The fluffy morning newscasts will survive since there's more mindless entertainment included.

Seriously, how do you people get eachother worked up? It's beyond me... Okay, I'm a gay man- with a job- and I love to watch the train-wreck of Hot Topics on The View. It makes me a little crazy, but I've been watching Barb Walters my whole life and I think it's great that she's on a program with so much buzz- give her that. The only thing I'm waiting for is for Rosie to make Elizabeth Hasselbeck CRY! I can't wait for that "youtube" moment... my life is SO rich, eh?

AFTER ROSIE STARTS THE VEIW THE HONEYMOON PHASE WILL MAKE THE RATINGS HIGH. IF ROSIE'S CONTRACT SPECIFIES SHE HAS TO ACT HUMAN, THE SHOW WILL BE OK. I READ SOMEWHERE IT IS IN THE CONTRACT SHE CAN'T CUT HER HAIR. WHO KNOWS IF THAT'S TRUE OR NOT. SHE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN ON HER SHOW UNTIL SHE GOT ON THE BANDWAGON OVER GUN CONTROL. THEN IT SEEMED LIKE EVERYTHING KIND OF SPUN OUT OF ORBIT. MAYBE SHE REALLY WANTS TO TRY TO BE THE KIND, FUNNY LOVEABLE PERSONALITY SHE WAS ON HER OWN SHOW. TIME WILL TELL. SHE HAS BEEN UNKIND BUT I GUESS WITH EVERYTHING THAT WAS GOING ON IN HER LIFE (PER THE RAGS) ANGER WAS A OPTION FOR HER. TIME WILL TELL. LET US HOPE SHE STAYS STABLE WHILE THE CAMERAS ARE ON.
