Lets Get This Party Started
Tom, Katie, Rosie in Attack Mode

If you think that the slew of recent public appearances by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are just a coincidence, think again: Sources tell TMZ that this week is just the beginning of a carefully crafted, all-out image-remaking offensive that the couple has launched, culminating in a long-delayed wedding. But powerful Hollywood bigwigs tell TMZ it's not going to work with them.

The TomKat PR machine has been in fullest attack mode all week, and the latest charge came when Katie and Tom did lunch with the mothers TomKat for the second time this week at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The supposedly feuding families looked notably chummy and happy for the photographers. And in just one week, the couple have managed to use the top-rated newscast and late-night show as well as the most visible hotel and restaurant in Hollywood to attempt a complete image overhaul, not to mention a 22-page spread in Vanity Fair.

But TMZ is told that Cruise has mouthed off to various Hollywood bigwigs at various venues, including dinners at restaurants, about the evils of certain drugs, knowing that family members of these bigwigs are taking them. They are outraged, and don't believe the new, softer side of Tom for a minute.

ROSIE BLENDS LIKE SAND

Just one week after its return to air, there are real problems on "The View," and the situation is already so bad that the real question is: Will Rosie O'Donnell last through even one season?

Sources tell TMZ that Rosie has not been received kindly by her co-hosts, and that Elisabeth Hasselbeck in particular has been openly hostile to her. What's more, O'Donnell – famously dubbed the "Queen of Nice" in her first talk-show-host incarnation – has had significant issues with the production of the show and with the schedule. In fact, on her very first day, after the entire studio audience was given a two-day cruise, O'Donnell complained on-air about that confetti didn't drop on cue from the ceiling to shower the audience, that the promo was an unusually long one, and that a two-day cruise seemed somewhat skimpy, whether or not it was a giveaway.

Rosie's rep Cindi Berger told TMZ, "None of that is true. Everyone gets along great. Elisabeth is planning to go up to Rosie's house with her baby Grace." Rosie, as she promised Barbara Walters, has not been blogging about the show on rosie.com. A publicist for "The View" did not respond to a request for comment.

THE HOFF SOUNDS OFF

He doesn't hold back, does Mr. Hasselhoff. In an interview with People magazine this week, David Hasselhoff admits to using Botox, but says he's going to wait a while until he gets more, adds that Princess Diana was "smitten" with him, and knows what he wants his gravestone to read.

The ex-"Baywatch"-er admits to having a little work done on his 54-year-old face: "I have had Botox, everyone has. It's a shot. It takes out the frown." And he suggests that a certain Hollywood legend has, too: "I like Clint Eastwood, he waited until he was 75. He looks damn good." As for Diana, it seems that the Hoff's mile-high height created "sparks" when they met: "She was smitten with me since I am so tall. I was smitten with her since she was so tall." Right.

When all's said and done, however, Hasselhoff will have a curious message for everyone to read at his gravesite: "Hoff and Running." And that's that.

HEATHER'S FIRST HUBBY: "WE HAVE BOTH BEEN HEATHERED"

Heather Mills -- currently in divorce proceedings with her estranged husband, Paul McCartney -- isn't getting much in the way of support from her first husband, Alfie Kamal. In fact, he's sympathizing with Sir Paul. "We have both been Heathered," says Kamal to the London Evening Standard, via Page Six. "If she took out of the marriage what she put in, she would walk out with minus a million bucks." Kamal was married to Mills in the late '80s. Employing a somewhat unfortunate simile in reference to Mills, who has one prosthetic leg, Kamal says, "She ran off lots of times. It was a bit like the Runaway Bride. I used to think she had a permanent pair of sneakers on under her shoes."

Meanwhile, The Donald -- who knows from divorce settlements -- says on his Trump University blog: "I know I sound like a broken record but ... get a prenup. Don't believe me? Ask Paul McCartney what he thinks. I know he wishes he had one." Mills could reportedly get as much as $400 million of Sir Paul's fortune in the divorce.

PARTY FAVORS: AFFLECK, MIRREN WIN TOP PRIZES IN VENICE, PIRATES PASSES $1 BILLION WORLDWIDE

Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren won the top acting prizes at the Venice Film Festival for their roles in "Hollywoodland" and "The Queen," respectively. The former was a surprise to critics and observers, though Mirren was widely praised for her work. The top prize -- The Golden Lion -- went to a Chinese film, "Still Life," that few critics had even seen ... "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" became the third film ever to pass $1 billion at the worldwide box office, said Disney, trailing only "Titanic" and "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King." It has collected $1.003 billion in ticket sales as of Friday.

Way to go Mr. Intellectual!!
Another fine example of a 'HATER'! She's a lesbian you dumb a**. She wouldn't do you even if you looked like Tommy; which is VERY doubtful. Take a Grammar 101 course, or really, just shut up.

92. I was a huge Tom Cruise fan before Scientology took over and changed his life/family. What happened to the guy from Top Gun, Cocktail, Jerry Maguire??? He was a truly great actor THEN and now, you could not pay me a million dollars to watch one of his movies or watch him on any talk show. He has truly lost one of his fans!

93. What WAS the deal with Starr Jones leaving the show, anyway? Was she upset with Rosie? Or was it because of sexual orientation? Or race? Or was it just that Starr was upset that she was passed over for someone else as leader/moderator? (Filling in the Meredith Vieira role.)

94. I only caught a couple of episodes of The View last week and I could already see that Rosie does not fit. She is too overpowering and it almost seems as tho she has a chip on her shoulder.

I don't think she will do anything except bring the ratings down on The View.

96. One thing, If I were a public figure of any kind, I would never want my baby's pictures shown anywhere. As a matter of fact, not being a public figure myself, I have not nor would I ever put my baby's pictures in any kind of publication to be seen by strangers.

These persons are constantly being harassed by "paparazzi" for pictures of their private lives and should be given the right to privacy under due process of the law. Not only must they contend with the 'paparazzi" but in putting these pictures out they expose their loved ones to the sick society of criminals that are lurking and waiting to do their heinous crimes.

That's it. I don't wish to waste my time on any other comments regarding this matter.

97. what is all the fuss about rosie? First she is not one of the girls because she is a butch Lez. Only an idiot would expect her to fit in with 3 hetero women. Second if they want to integrate men or gay women on the show then expect a little change. If this comes as a big surprise to Barbara Walters who I am sure is no virgin in show biz and understands fully the dynamics of gay straight relationships - then it means only one thing. Rosie is rich and Barbara is looking for someone to buy her out as she exits the sagging show gracefully. Barbara is an aging news icon whatever that means and its time for her to get off the stage. I dont care who replaces who but is there anyone alive who will miss Barbara? My grandmother is long gone and I know she used to watch her show on TV at night but thats about it. MOVE ON Barbara. And Rosies Butch schtick is not novel entertaining or different its just Butch. I think Rosie should do a Home improvement show so she can put on a hard hat. Give me a break everybody puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!!

98. PR IS HIS MIDDLE NAME, WE KNOW HOW HE OPERATES, I DON'T LIKE HIM OR HIS WIFE, AND I FEEL FOR THE BABY. THIS MAN IS FOR HIM AND HIM ALONE. I'M SO TIRED OF HEARING HE WANTS THIS, THIS WAY, HE WANT'S THIS THAT WAY, SCREW HIM. HE CAN USE ALL THE PR HE WANTS I JUST DON'T LIKE THE MAN. HE HAS REALLY CHANGED, IF HE THINKS PR STUNTS WILL GET HIM AND THE FEMBOT WIFE BACK IN OUR GOOD GRACES, HE IS WRONG, WE KNOW HIM BY NOW AND HOW HE WORKS. BAM IN YOUR FACE, THEN GONE, BRAVO PARAMOUNT, MORE STARS COULD USE THE BOOT. THAT REALLY WAS LONG OVERDUE. HE NEEDED A LESSON IN BEING HUMBLE, HE REALLY HAS LOST IT, SAME WITH ROSIE, HEY, BUT WE KNEW THAT, IT IS A SHAME BABS DIDN'T. KATIE, LEARN TO STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, YOU HAVE A SAY IN LIFE, IF THE MAN YOUR WITH DOESN'T LIKE IT, THEN HE IS NOT THE MAN FOR YOU, HAVE RESPECT FOR YOURSELF. DON'T LET HIM PULL THE RING IN YOUR NOSE.

99. This ongoing destruction campaign against Tom Cruise is just ridiculous. I for one am very fond of my Lexapro, and equially fond of Tom as an excellent actor. I'll continue to see his terrific movies and do not really care what his opinion is about anti-depressants, other than I respect his opinion, even if we might disagree. This country still observes the freedom of speech, does it not? Mr. Cruise went through a similar campaign against him a few years ago around the time he was starring in "Interview with the Vampire." His co-star in that movie, Brad Pitt, emerged unscathed. The nasty press and unflattering articles about him then were as nonsensical and malicious as they are now. Who is it out there that hates him so much, I wonder? And why do they put so much energy into it? It's all baffling and silly. Hang in there, Tom. This too will pass.

100. I think Rosey makes the show great!! Elizabeth is the one who needs to go and she needed to go BEFORE ROSIE ARRIVED! Elizabeth is to judgmental, political and just plalin boring and immature. Get rid of her and keep Rosey!

101. Any celebrity that uses their status to sphew forth their unsolicited comments on issues they hope to influence people on goes straight to my "do not $upport" bin. Since I can't toss Brad Pitt or Angelina in their twice, I submit someone should "probate" him on his recent statement "We're not getting married . . ." Who cares if they ever marry? Just exchange vials of blood and be done with it.

102. I wasn't much of a STAR fan when she was on the show.. but the way she was taken off the show was not right. I'd done the same thing she did. I'd went out there and told the truth.. AND Barbara's comment about Mel Gibson was also uncalled for. BARBARA NEED TO REMEMBER TO KEEP IT ALL TO HERSELF. I did see the show the one day when ELISABETH was trying to give her opinion and the way BARBARA tried to stop her from talking and I thought to myself.. BARBARA is to CONTROLLING. I have chosen to quit watching the VIEW. So now I don't even FLIP in to see what is going on anymore.
This show was suppose to be about STRONG WOMAN with DIFFERENT opinions.. but from what I can see.. it's about one or two STRONG WOMAN that want to voice their opinions.. and want everyone else to shut the HELL UP.!!!!
Barbara can't be so SUGAR SWEET that she has never regreated doing anything in her life that she wishes she could take back. If she says she hasn't .. then her memory loss is getting worse. I for myself.. quit watching ROSIE when she acted so strange on her own show. DO NOT GIVE HER .. HER OWN SHOW BACK.. WHO CARES..!!!!!!!! AND I quit watching BARBARA when she treated Star the way she did.. then turned on MEL GIBSON. If she wanted to interview MEL for a night time show.. and could.. she'd done it for the ratings.!!!!!!!! I mean.. GOOD LORD.. she interviewed.. DRUGGIE.. AND HEAVY DRUGGIE.. (WHITENEY and BOBBY BROWN.!!!!!!!!!) for the ratings.!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE..!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give ME a BREAK.!!!!!

103. I quit watching the view completely after Star left-Joy's snarled up looks toward Star everytime she spoke just made me sympathize with Star. The shows highest ratingsever were with all the hype of her wedding which led to her firing-go figure-Elisabeth had gotten just plain annoying with her "God" as a husband who does no wrong, and then I have to say Rosie came along and saved the day!! I loved her talk show, I loved her magazine, and couldn't wait to see what she could do with a show that was headed out--Even Barbara couldn't save the path this was taking! I will watch faithfully until Rosie is out and then I'm out with her!!

104. So tell me...How does Tom Cruise win with you guys? First everyone is all over him for not displaying Suri...you question whether she even exists. Now that he has revealed her, he gets hit with the rap of doing it for publicity. Did you want to see her or not?? And while you continue to bash him, nobody seems to mention that he was the first one to stop at an accident scene, called for help and stayed an hour after help arrived to make sure the people were ok. I think you guys just like to bash, but won't give any credit for the plentiful good things he does. That wasn't his first accident rescue, by the way. Anyone want to accuse him of doing that for PR also? These are good people who understand that their lives can't be totally private, but who don't want too much press intrusion where it isn't appropriate.

105. Well I have to agree I watched the View the first two days with Rosie and it seemed she was the one that stood out. I heard her loud voice over everyone else. It seemed she did the intro into every segment. There is no way the other women will allow that to take place too long. The other thing I noticed was that everyone was in sync with Kissing Barbara's A!@. I was sick of the compliments, oh your wardrobe i s timeless you're so this or that. It was ridiculous. Trust me that will not secure your position there.

As for Tom well WHO CARES.
