Chevy Chase to Play Mel Gibson ... Kinda

Chevy ChaseContinuing their tradition of stories "ripped from the headlines," NBC's "Law & Order" will air an episode in November featuring Chevy Chase as "a television celebrity who is pulled over for drunk driving while wearing blood-soaked clothes, and whose religious prejudice comes out after his arrest."

That doesn't sound familiar at all.

Chase is best known for his work on "Saturday Night Live" and films such as "Foul Play," "Caddy Shack," "National Lampoon's Vacation" and its three sequels, "Fletch" and "The Three Amigos."

Oh, wait a minute -- that's like the Mel Gibson thing! We get it now.

1. Chevy is a dumb lib who had his own problem with drugs. He's perfect to play a jack ass as he plays one in real life.

5. What have you two people in the first two post done? Chevy is great at what he does. He may not be a leading man or a action hero-but, he is one of the funniest people in film and TV-seriously what are the projects that you all have accomplished that compare with his, that have made tons more money than his-that have brought tons more laughter and joy into peoples live, what are these projects that you have under your bels with much more success that allows you to be better than Chevy, I and the world are just dying to know about these great things you all have done-wait, maybe it wasn't acting at all-maybe you have cured cancer or something like that-please tell us what form of greatness we are in.

7. Blood-soaked clothes? Apparently the writers at Law & Order confused Mel with OJ.
Law & Order use to be a really great show, now they are turning in to a tabloid hour long drama. Maybe they forgot where to look for story ideas, which is odd considering that most of their stories use to come from important headlines, not the mistakes of celebrities.

9. Law and Order has ALWAYS been a tableoid drama. They steal ideas from the headlines and twist them to their liking. I was forced to watch it once for a media class and thought it was the lamest thing I've ever seen. Must be nice to not have to come up with your own ideas for shows.

I actually like Chevy a lot...I'm kind of dissapointed that he's stooping to the Law & Order level. But who knows....maybe he does need some money or he's bored. I can't judge, I'm not him.

10. Seems like an extremely lame and lazy storyline (writer's strike?), but I'll probably watch it anyway. Chevy Chase is known for being a huge jerk, but I do still think he's hilarious. I just make sure I try not to see him in real life! LOL!

12. tmz will do whatever it can to keep reminding us of what Mel did, funny though, I didn't hear the part about Mel getting out of his car wearing blood-soaked clothes.
I'm still a fan of Mel Gibson's. Move on Harvey !

13. Jew baiting in Hollywood is the ultimate sin from which you can never be forgiven. You could be a pedophile(Roman Polanski and Woody Allen) a murderer (John Landis), but don't be Jew Hating, man you'll never work in this town again. That's why your boy is out in Oklahoma promoting his movie. He knows he's f*cked up and the Jewish entertainment conspiracy will freeze him out. No wonder he' been driven to drink!

14. No, L & O is not a tabloid show. Just because they have done the Britney Spears one, does not mean that they have always done tabloid stuff. Have you watched the show from the beginning? I have. They have done real life stories, the Lisa S (the little girl who was killed by her step dad in real life and her step dad beat the mother, and he tried to blame it on cocaine), and other real life cases. There was also one on Mrs. Silverman, a rich woman in New York who was killed by a mother and son team who would move in and take over the person's life (they had done that in many places). They only take what is going on and change the names. They have done many cases of political, real life people getting killed (including the killer couple in Canada where they killed the woman's sibling, the boston guy who killed his wife and said someone black did it, etc.), as well as famous ones. The whole problem you are having is that poor little celebs are being picked on. Why don't you watch the shows from the beginning (like rent them) and then tell me that L & O is a tabloid show. If it was a tabloid show, why would it be on all this time? Do you honestly think it would have been on for 17/18 seasons if it was trashy, say like stupid a$$ friends? If this show is so bad, why does it have two other shows - Law & Order SVU and Law & Order CI? If you don't like the show, don't watch it and leave it for the real folks to watch.

And if these "celebs" don't want their business out there, don't act up and have teh paparazzi catch you. There are plenty of celebs who never get their business out there and yes it is possible. Mel Gibson is a moron who got busted and he is supposed to be so good, yet he gets busted drunk. Trust me if he wouldn't have opened his damn mouth, nobody would have a problem with him getting stopped. As far as I'm concerned, that should have been between him and his wife (with the hanging with the young girls he was drinking with). But when he opened his mouth with the insult to the female cop (sugar tits) and the jewish cop, that was where he got stupid. There are just some things that you don't say. And now it's coming out that he has gotten special treatment in the past. Why doesn't that surprise me? He is a rich person. And he is also full of it. And as for Britney, she put all her business out there, gets mad when the media goes out there, and then is ready to cry. The same goes for Star Jones. There are too many celebs out there who keep their lives private, despite the fact that the media is after them. So if the celebs want to stay out of the spotlight, do it by not acting afool one day and then b*tching about it the next.

15. I always liked Chevy Chase. I think he has great talent. Christmas Vacation is still playing on tv. I even have it on DVD. That movie in itself is hysterical. I will be looking forward to watching him on tv or otherwise.
