Hilary Duff claims in court documents that she fears for her life, alleging she and her boyfriend are being stalked by two men -- one a paparazzi and the other a homeless man.
TMZ has obtained court documents, filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court, in which Duff and Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden claim that a 19-year-old Russian emigre came to the United States "for the sole purpose of meeting and becoming romantically involved with Ms. Duff."
The court documents state the man, whose first name is Max, "admitted to being 'obsessed' with her, has stated his intention of 'removing' his 'enemies' (i.e., those who prevent him from being with her), has stated his intention of purchasing a weapon, and has threatened to kill himself and to engage in dramatic actions to get her attention."
According to the documents, Max "has stated his belief that Hilary is in love with him and that Joel Madden stands in their way."
The court documents also claim David Joseph Klein, a 50-year-old celebrity photographer who is roommates with Max, is also a threat.
The documents state, "Over the past six weeks, the defendants have engaged in an accelerated effort to make contact with Hilary, including visits to her neighborhood, to her mother's home, to her boyfriend's neighborhood ... to Mr. Madden's concert venue, and direct calls to Hilary's manager."
According to the documents, the police detained Max at least once at one of Madden's concerts and questioned Klein at the same event.
The stars are requesting a judge to order Max and David Joseph Klein to stay at least 100 yards away from Hilary Duff, her sister Haylie, Joel Madden and his twin brother Benji.
TMZ spoke with David Joseph Klein who denies claims that he is a dangerous threat. We were unable to contact Max.

This is some crazy stuff! The paparazzi seem to be getting crazier and crazier. The paparzzi need to be stopped before they cause major harm.
100 yards is still an easy shot for anyone with decent aim. This guy needs to be sent packing back to Russia..what's his Visa status?

I'd agree that some of these guys get dangerously close and cross the line, but can you blame them for the feeding frenzy caused by the likes of Paris and Lohan? I mean they crave the attention when they need them... then scream foul when it doesn't suit their needs! I say it comes with the territory...
Oh my gosh! I hope the courts and law enforcement do everything they can to protect them. The thing is that if people are psycho you can tell them to stay a certain amount of distance away, but it doesn't mean they will. It sounds like there's some mental illness going on here and these people should be arrested just by the currant facts alone.

The photographer and Max, when would these men learn their lesson to stop harassing celebrities? If these men see Hilary and Joel together, they are a couple!! Leave them alone. Hilary is not interested with these guys. She is a celebrity (and human), but sheâs not interested with outsider. Remember she has boyfriend. Restrained these two guys to their home country, that will be more than 100 feet, more like 100 miles. Take away their Visa and Green Card. I would like to see these two guys on NBC Dateline To Catch A predator, that will teach the two guys a lesson and would not bother no one. Even I like Hilary Duff, but I would not do that. I rather admire her from far.

I saw that guy Max stalking Hilary outside the Jimmy Kimmel show. He actually thinks he can have a relationship with her. The guy is delusional. Thank goodness her security people got him away but he was still lurking around. Be careful Hilary!!
THey should be looking at I Love Lucy episode called "L.A. At Last" on how William Holden handled an obessed Lucy at the Brown Derby restaurant when the latter had spaghetti spilled on him when William turned the tables on Lucy by staring at Lucy when she tried to eat her dinner. Remember most fans bark is worse than their bite.
