Shakira Forgets Her Roots

Well I will say that glam pic of Shakira with the Combed, Shiny, STRAIGHTER, Hairstyle was a BIG Improvement over that SLOPPY, FRIZZY, MESSY Hairstyle she usually sports..(Sometimes her frizzy hair Looks like RATS Live in it ) !!!!!

Shakira is an actress as well as a singer. She's comfortable using makeup and costume to create a variety of characters. She had an acting career before her music career took off in the U.S., and she brings that talent to her music videos - so don't make the mistake of assuming that every character she portrays is intended to be her *new image.* She's very much a performance artist. Part of the reason for her varying style is that she focuses on themes in her latest work -- when she released Pies Descalzos (the album that preceded the charity), she portrayed ordinary, working class and peasant women in her videos; for Laundry Service, she chose the Gaucho theme as fitting for most of the album (except Underneath Your Clothes). You'll notice that her look will change everytime she releases a new album, as she uses costume, makeup and hair style to complement the major themes of her latest work.

At the same time, in her personal life, she enjoys changing up her looks - something many women share with her. I'm not a girly-girl, but I get tired of the same-old same-eh. I think she's most beautiful with dark hair, looking very Arabic - but I appreciate her artistry in creating styles to go with the themes of her musical works.

Hi Elle....changing your look for a music video and just trying to do something different for her does not mean she is not proud of her skin or heritage. She has proven from the beginning of her career that she's quite happy with herself. So, just because she is doing something else does not mean anything and people are quite entitled to try a new look regardless of their skin. If Beyonce wants blond locks there is noting wrong with it as long as she rocks it. Don't speak on things you're not privy to.

I like Shakira. Though sometimes her performances can be 'racy' to me, she seems like she works hard, is family-oriented, isn't impressed with herself, likes people, and has a good head on her shoulders. And she did all that belly-dancing training for YEARS, which at least shows dedication and commitment on her part to study something seriously. BTW -- I think she looks fab; very glamorous, though I like her natural look, too --
