Kirstie Alley

I'll Have a Juror Sandwich

4/25/2007 12:47 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ was at Los Angeles County Courthouse when we spotted Jenny Craig spokesdieter Kirstie Alley, doing her civic duty ... jury duty, that is.

Alley waited impatiently on a hallway bench, sandwiched between several other potential Celeb Mugshots gallery: click to launch photosjurors for a contract dispute case, when she was heard saying, "What time is this thing over?" A fellow would-be juror replied, "4:40, and it's 4:30 right now." Kirstie proceeded to drop her head in her hands and let out a huge sigh.

We're not sure if she was sick of jury duty ... or just getting hungry.

I am so glad that 90% of the readers thought the same thing I did. How tacky for TMZ to even make such judgemental comments. Many people battle with their weight , even celebrities, but comments like this only show that the media is insensitive to real problems that many of their own readers face themselves. Bad move TMZ.

I can't agree more with all the comments critical of your swipe at Kirste, there's just no reason to get on her personally. If you want to slam her acting or express some other legit complaint, OK; but this is just an unnecessarily malicious cheap shot.

Me

I'm overweight myself, and can't imagine having to lead my life under this kind of scrutiny. Let alone to step forward as this woman did to publicly declare she wasn't going to allow her weight to defeat her anymore. Then heaven forbid - she actually appear for jury duty?! Can't imagine someone actually trying to take care of herself AND DO THE RIGHT THING?! You go girl!

News was slow today.....my hat is off to Kirstie. TMZ, as long as there are illegal felons crossing our borders everyday, you have real news to print...but maybe, just maybe you are too far left to see real news. A note to Kirstie..." you are still the drop dead, heart breakin picture of perfection you have always been !!!! You are a role model for this country that, You dont have to be 98lbs to be walking perfection. Dont change a damn bit.

She is an American and it is a priveledge to do what she is doing. That priveledge should never be mocked by the media. Shame on TMZ!

That was an awful comment! YOU OWE HER A PUBLIC APOLOGY! Your headline read "Fat Actress", you should be ashamed, she has worked so hard to lose her weight under public scrutiny! Does it make you feel better about yourselves to tear someone else down?

Very, very petty. Don't insult someone doing their civic duty.

what a cheap shot! it's no wonder so many celebs have eating disorders (not to mention regular people as well). if they are fat and lose weight, the media always sees the former fattie. if they are skinny, then they must be anorexic and should gain weight. then they gain weight and the media says ooh gained a little weight lately????? i'd lilke to see what you idiots at tmz.com look like. take a look in your own mirror for a change!

SHAMEon you TMZ for your snide "maybe she's hungry" comment. It's no crime to be hungry; at least she's doing something good for her community by being at jury duty, which we all know is BORING.. How about next time instead of labeling her "Fat Actress" (from the TV show), try "CIVIC MINDED ACTRESS."

TMZ, you're losing your credibility when you cover non-news -- and being mean about it.
