Luckily, the only thing bigger than the 63-year-old diva's coral sequined, ruffled tulle cocoon -- her incomparable voice!
The orchestra was heard over this outfit, and no musicians were injured when she tossed her wig curls.

Don't be surprised if you go under first, you are a sick and ULGY person on the inside, so I know your Ulgy on the outside as well. When you wish another persons death you secretly want your own, so go six feet under!!!!!!!!!
Diana's eldest daughter, Rhonda, was at the concert with this funky, Macy Gray inspired fro, and looked HOT HOT HOT...she was dressed in a caremel-colored spring dress that had the look of Marilyn Monroe's famous white dress (the one she played with a sexy tease in the subway air shots photos, and duplicated later in one of her films), anyway...I saw Rhonda being stopped, and chatting with various admirers, and could see her smiling and politely listening and interacting with fans of her mothers, ...let's give it ot DIANA, she has raised some exceptional, smart kids...and Diana herself, is doing her best Marlene Dietrich, aging with such great beauty and looking so fantastically glamourous in her glittering gowns, that make her so utterly ICONIC...

And when that thing does die, it will be the first thing I've known to die without ever having lived. Truly a pathetic slug!
Was it TMZ or Perez that posted that picture of her looking like the rest of us when she was doing some (i think) grocery shopping one day...and they ragged on her for that no end... so now she's dressed up and performing and just being the diana ross that everyone expects and she catches crap for that too. I am so confused...
Wow! Some of the negative comments here! An old hag? Drunk ..et alia! I just hope I look just as good as Ross does (with her shape) when I'm 63. I hope that I can last for 40 plus years in the same career and still be relevent enough to draw so much commentary as she does here. This only tells m that she must have done something right! I saw the MSG concert. She was in excellent voice, looked fantastic, and had a very tight show! The reviews have overwhelmingly supported this--even those few which tried to be negative. Its funny, no one really comments upon the problems/issues of other performers with such veracity as those of Ross. Most "normal" people have problems and down times in their life. To take joy in someone's misery only highlights a jealousy on the finger pointers part. However, the achievement and true joy is to watch and learn how that person made it through their hard times and came out on top. Bravo Diana Ross!!!!
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paris Hilton's life in the fast lane could slow down significantly. The hotel heiress faces a hearing Friday for allegedly violating the terms of her probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction. Prosecutors have asked that she be jailed for 45 days.
Prosecutors also want Hilton to stay away from alcohol for 90 days, wear a monitoring device that will chart whether she complies, and they seek to have her license suspended for an additional four months.
Dear Diana,
I remember as a young girl growing up, my mother listening to your records ( Touch me in the Morning, Endless Love, Its My turn, Mahogany, etc) and crying her heart out ever wondering if my father was going to come back home. He never returned, but you and your music helped our family through some real tough times. Thank you for your tremendous catalog of music, inspiration, and talent. We will always LOVE YOU
Love Natalie
#41 Please note that THE SUPREMES are the number 2 act of the 1960's, not Diana Ross as a solo act. Don't feel badly that you've forgotten that........Diane has forgotten it too. The funniest part of American Idol (and the whole thing was hilarious) was when the finalists sang a tribute to Diana Ross and then sang 3 songs by the LEGENDARY SUPREMES. She actually believes that it is now and always has been about her. This is the source of the controversy. If you read all the comments on this web-site you will notice that they are written by people who came of age when Diana was a solo act (and also believe it is all about her), by people who remember the phenomenon of THE SUPREMES and resent her for her unwillingness to share the legacy, or by people who are just sick to death of having Diane stuck down their throats since she left THE SUPREMES. Everyone is not a fan of an alcoholic felon who has delusions that she is the center of the universe.

Diana Ross represents "The Supremes" better than any other member. She is the signature lead vocalist sound of The Supremes. Without Diana Ross there would have been no Supremes. Yes, after Diana left the group Jean Terrell took over and they had additional post ross hits, but Ross at the helm built the name "The Supremes" to the level it was at before Jean. W/o Diana the songs The supremes were offered may not have been offered because as a group they would have had to prove themselves first! Diana already did that!
Diana Ross is not an alcoholic felon. She drank and drove. Since when does that constitute being a felon? Have you ever been drunk? I see you are no Bush or Clinton fan either, as they have both been drunk and high on drugs! I love people like you who act as if you're so perfect behind the monitor, but in real life are probably guilty of far worse sinful acts than Diana Ross! Nobody is perfect and that includes YOU!
#70, I don't think what you cited is the "basis" of controversy. I think its all about perceptions. Let us not forget that The Supremes are no more. The group has not been alive for over 30 years. Thankfully, we have their recordings to remind us of how great they WERE... aside from the GREAT music! Ross, in my opinion, never claims the work of The Supremes as just her own. She always pays homage to the popularity of the group and refers to them as the Super Duper Supremes! There was a point at which Ross was angry because the public would not focus on her current work and almost insisted that she remain a Supreme. This might be analogous to making Beyonce stay with Destiney's Child. Fact is; They both outgrew their respective groups. As far as AI, why would they not also sing Supreme songs? Diana Ross was part of The Supremes and their history is part of hers too. Don't you agree?
I hope that you are not comparing the legendary Supremes with Destiny's Child. The Supremes were in a category all their own. No other girl group in history can touch the hem of their gowns. That is one of the things that is hard to understand about the mystique if you are not old enough to have experienced the Supremes' phenomenon first hand........they were in a league all their own like Sammy Davis and Dean Martin..........the top of the top. People started resenting Diane when she started separating herself from Flo and Mary. Once Berry and Diane got rid of Flo and changed the name, some people really began to despise Diana Ross. She played a huge part in the success of The Supremes but people were in love with the group, not her. No one wanted Diane to be the star of the group the way it eventually turned out. It made most of us sick with her antics. She became a legend from her association with The Supremes. If she hadn't had a solo career, people would still pay to see her today because of her association with the trio. As she promotes herself, she diminishes The Supremes as though ther were a stepping stone in her glorious career. The truth is that her "glorious" career was made possible by her legendary status as one of The Supremes. Maybe there wouldn't have been The Supremes without Diana Ross. It is also definitely true that there would be no Diana Ross had it not been for the legendary Supremes. As you know, it is THE SUPREMES
To # 70: Now listen here Mary,... er Neil... Who exactly is shoving Diana Ross down your throat? If someone was holding a gun to your head when you read this article, please let us know so that we can call the police! What gets me is that those who are not fans of Diana's will post some of the most vile stuff instead of just moving on. You are not a fan? That's okay! MOVE ON! Why all the bitterness? Like... Mary Wilson is sharing the legacy? PUHLEEZE! She is trying to get legislation passed so people like The Former Ladies Of The Supremes (who are dynamic singers) cannot use the name or material UNLESS an original is included. Sounds like Mary needs a job! So you don't like alcoholic felons? That's fine, but I ask again, why do you read and post about them? Knock! Knock! Like the poster said earlier, THE SUPREMES are no more!!! Wake up honey... its 2007!
Whew Neil! You have it bad! A couple of corrections. 1) Berry Gordy changed the names of groups in order to command more money. Thus you have; "Smokey Robinson & the Miracles," "Martha Reeves & The Vandellas," "Gladys Knight & The Pips." 2) Right or wrong, Ross & Gordy did not get rid of Ballard. She got rid of herself. Its was a tragic example of how jealousy can be self-destructive. 3)The Supremes were a stepping stone for Ross, as well as any group can be, for talent that desires to go out on their own. Ross would not have survived as long as she has if she were not talented. She would have failed. 4) The Supremes are a part of her glorious & legendary career but The Supremes did not create it or cause it. It was Ross' talent. The Supremes were a great & magical group but as with many things, you grow and move on, while keeping the memories. As far as there would not have been a Diana Ross without The Supremes, we will never truly know. But given Ross' longevity as a solo artist, the odds point to that maybe she would have still hit the radar screens.
75: I beg your pardon. You are obviously in your 40's, weren't even there for the glory days of The Supremes, and have fallen victim to Motown's revisionist propaganda to further Diane's career. To begin with, The group name was changed by Berry and Diane to single her out, have her name known, and get her ready for her solo career. It had nothing to do with getting more money....that is bunk. Martha and The Vandellas were always so named.....only the "Reeves" part was added. Smokey Robinson was Berry Gordy's right hand man (vice president and songwriter). Changing the name of the Miracles was inconsequential to that faceless group that was only known on record.
Don't compare The Supremes with other Motown acts...there is no comparison. They were the top of the top. Berry Gordy loved Diane but America loved The Supremes. Putting Diane out there as "Diana Ross" was a strategic, well thought out plan by Diane and Berry to systematically transfer the fame of The Supremes to Diane. It was not immediately successful (to this day, people resent her for it). It took the complete and utter abandonment and destruction of The Supremes to accomplish "Diana Ross's solo career. When Diane was on "Inside The Actor's Studio," she said that she was unaware that there was tension in the group and that she heard about it after the fact. She went on to say that Florence Ballard left to get married. I bet you believe that, too! If you do, then you deserve all the other "let's make Diane a solo star" crap that Motown circulated.
#76:When you talk about a group, I can agree with you ,if the other Supremes shared lead vocals, but they didn't. Florence Ballard has a complete cd of her recordings, and Mary Wilson has a couple of cds, please get them, listen to their voices and tell who of the three was the most commerical? Diana has a tone in her voice that is far different than any one had in those days. You can't sleep your way to the top. The public buy recordings based on their tastes, the same as supporting your live performances. I've re-read both of Mary Wilson's books , and she says Diana was a driven perfectionest, that she(Mary) wanted to lead a normal life, that she was warned by Berry Gordy that she may regrete not working all that she could and that She and Cindy Birdsong, didn't appear on any of the later Supremes singles starting with 1967s Love Child. That the recording buying public didn't know and probley didn't care. that Florence couldn't handle the sudden fame, the fast track life, that Florence was let back in the group after her firing, and that she tried to tell Florence to wait, that Diana would be leaving soon, and she would be lead singer but Florence wouldn't listen. After Florence lefted she had 2 singles released and since they didn't sell , her album wasn't released and she was dropped by ABC records. That album plus her Motown recordings are now on cd, so if you wan't to be fair , buy, listen , then report.
Britney Spears might miss a lot more 'X Factor' auditions ... because she can! Simon Cowell gave Brit damn near free reign in order to sign the pop star to that $15 million deal -- but is it backfiring? We'll tell you what peeps on the set are saying.Plus, Chris Jericho's…
