Celebrity Justice
Jailed Paris -- "Polite, Gracious"

Hutton, Paris HiltonShe's stuck in solitary confinement with only one hour of free time a day, but so far, Paris Hilton is being described as a "polite and gracious" prisoner. That's hot!

In a statement outside the Los Angeles jail where the heiress is being held, Hilton's lawyer, Richard Hutton, told the media that Paris is "doing very well under the circumstances." But the circumstances, according to Hutton, are pretty harsh.

According to Hutton, Paris was forced into a 100-sq. ft. "administrative segregation" (a fancy word for solitary confinement) cell because of her celebrity status. She's only allowed out of her tiny cell for one hour a day to "be in the module, take a shower and talk on the phone."

Hutton also said that his client's stealthy, late-night surrender was Hilton's idea, adding that "Paris didn't want to make a media circus out of the event. She just wanted to quietly start serving her time."

Hutton added that Paris will be doing a fair amount of self-reflection during her time in the clink, because "she wants to change the attitudes that exist about her." Good luck, Ms. Hilton.

16. I really hope that this experience leads her and inspires her to make some changes for the greater good of humankind. Her celebrity status can be used for such a better purpose than what it is now.

I've always been the first to take jabs at her and her behavior because it's been so consistently over the top. Now I find myself feeling bad for her. We're all human, and we've all been young and we've all made mistakes. We all HAVEN'T been enabled to behave in a manner consistent with a thirteen year old girl - especially when we're 26 years old. This clearly illustrates how out of touch with reality she has been her entire life, and for some reason, I think she might just 'get it' this time. I hope so!

18. She wasn't that worried about her picture being taken since the window was down in the car! I also find it strange that she had to go to the MTV awards before checking in, one last hurrah? If she wanted to law low before checking in, she should have been home, reading that Bible that she's been toting around lately. I wonder how many book deals and interviews are in the works for that hand picked cell mate of hers? I will be thinking of her pampered princess ass sleeping on the inch-thick plastic covered mattress in jail as I climb into my new bed tonight!

20. She didn't want a media circus?!? Then why do we know the crummy details of her surrender???

21. I saw her on the MTV Awards, she said, "I hope that I’m an example to other young people." WHATEVER!!!!

Paris, why don't you learn from your own mistakes before you expect others to learn from them?!!! If you really want to be an example, take this time seriously. If you find you need rehab/counseling, you can afford it. Do what is necessary to be a GOOD EXAMPLE to others, not what being hard partying, selfish little rich girl is like. No one learns much from those!

And why can't you do something original? You're going to write about your time in jail. Naomi has been there & done that. I hope that no one reads it. Enjoying the time while you're away. LOVE the peace & quiet!!! LOL!!!

22. Her fist meal....cereal, bread & juice?? The horror of it all. Not only slapped on the wrist, but now she has to carbo pound??? Is there no justice?? And as for her being scared, the rest of the world can walk a bit easier, and not be afraid of her driving drunk thru the streets. Now if only they can get Mel to do some time. All the hooplah about his 'comments'. The fact that he was blasted drunk seems to have been swept under the rug.

23. Hey Paris - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - HA! I guess that Bible thing didn't work. Hey listen - give Madonna a call and ask her how to tie a red string around your wrist. That might work.

Listen cupcake - you are what you are and Bible toting for you is like putting perfume on a pig. Have fun in the pokey.

24. 21-Probably because TMZ was stalking her to watch her turn herself in. Obviously there is a leak from the inside, it's not like Paris can call the press from there. I know she is an airhead and I know that she does things that are outrageous, but she is in jail because she was driving on a suspended license and a DUI where no one got hurt. To read all these mean things you are all saying about her is ridiculous. You act like she should be doing 20 years hard time. I am sure if it was your sister you would not think that is was something so terrible and that she should be in lock up.

25. Paris would not be in this position if she did not violate her probation. That is why she is in jail and Mel is not.

26. Once she and her family got over the shock, it sounds as though they hired a very "professional" attorney who has been a good guide on her behalf. I can imagine she'll mature through this most unfortunate process and do something honorable and worthy with her life from this point forward aside from partying, shopping, and eating out. Many of us were working 24/7 at her age and putting ourselves through university. Through reflection and forced detoxification from alcohol maybe she'll reconsider her friendship base, connect with some grounded young people, pass out of high school and go on to university (no matter how long it takes) since she has abundant wealth to do so (tutors are readily available)!

Two boys from my son's former high school were stopped in Idaho with marijuana in their possession. They were able to place one call to their parents and (then) immediately and separately thrown into nasty jail cells for 28 days!

I must say that Nikki Hilton's public remarks (though protective of her sister) were completely off base and should not have been spoken to the papparazi for the world to hear!

I'm glad Los Angeles is putting her in protective custody--they'll make certain that she is okay!
