Whoopi -- Talk Show Jinx?

It was announced today that starting this September, Whoopi will be the new "View" co-host. Move ovah yentas, Goldberg is here!

What some may not remember: Goldberg had her own syndicated talk show: "The Whoopi Goldberg Show," which aired for one unmemorable season in 1992-93. The show was informal, had no house band, no co-hosts -- and no viewers! Oy vey! The talker was quickly cancelled and nearly as quickly forgotten ... until now.

Whoopi also had a brief foray into sitcomville with her uniquely titled, "Whoopi." Viewers had other plans. The comedienne won an Oscar in 1990 for "Ghost," and hosted the Oscars several times. While she was (sorta) successful with "Hollywood Squares," she had ample support from a rotating cast of Xs and Os.

Give the ladies on "The View" a rabbit's foot ... they bettah keep their fingahs crossed!

3. Anyone far exceeds Rosie. Whoopie is a liberal - big surprise. However - she does not seem mean spirited or negative like that Rosie is. What the hell - I wish her luck.

4. Whoopi will do well; she will be supported by the rest of the panel. While her humor can be acerbic, she is not an abrasive personality. She has done very well working with others (e.g., Comic Relief) and she knows how to share the stage.

6. First, so what if Whoopi had a talk show on the air 16 years ago? Who cares? It was 16 YEARS AGO! Babs was on the air before I was born and she's still gabbing.

Second, TMZ stop removing everyone's comment or rearranging them! It's annoying. If you are going to remove comments at least state on your site the content that isn't suitable and subject to removal. You talk about Lindsay Lo ho-an, Brit-vajajay, Parisite and call them names. But when someone posts the same comment you remove it.

Even worse, when someone actually posts an intelligent or articulate thought, you break your necks to remove it!

7. Whoopi - is an extremely talented entertainer. Her one woman show on Broadway - was edgy and funny as hell!

I think Elizabeth - will have her hands full.
When is that Blond ditz going on maternity leave. Maybe she won't come back.

I liked the show better when Lisa Ling sat in that chair. At least she had something to say, that was knowledgeable and a thought that she developed with her own brain - instead of listening to Sean Hanity all day.

Yippie for Whoopi...now if we can send Lizbeth packing ----It would be a great show.

8. TMZ's credit can't hold a candle to Whoopi's. Those setbacks are minor compared to this woman's resume.

9. Let us not forget how Slim Fast canned her ass because she is such a crass an vulgar women with little repsect and tolerance of others....and quite frankly became a liability for the comapany.

11. Whoopi will be a fabulous addition to The View- Finally, an intelligent, contemplative, humorous, lovely, warm and fuzzy human being who isn't angry at the world. She will be the foundation that has been missing since Meredith left, yet will contribute more to the show than anyone she is replacing, on so many levels. I love Whoopi, and have been following her since her one woman show HOW many years ago!!! You go girl!! She will be a pleasure to watch.
PS- Her talk show was a unique and wonderful talk show venue. She was a great host. No one knew the show was on, and as usual they gave it no chance to succeed. She will succeed on The View.

14. Whoopi is boring as a talk show personality. Barbara is beyond boring...she is dull, apprehensive and scared to speak up. She always wants to be PC....and as for the blonde, does ANYONE at all watch the show to see her? At least with Rosie we ALL wanted to see what would happen next. I sure as hell hope they bring Sherri Shepherd on as a regular....she is funny, not afraid of the others and her timing is great. Whoopi WAS funny years ago but she just hasn't done a whole lot of late to make me think she is interesting even though I really and truly like her.....but we can only hope that the blonde has the baby and doesn't return. Now that would be great!!
