Cops to Give D.A. Bloom Case for Felony Review

10/20/2007 12:42 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Orlando BloomLaw enforcement sources tell TMZ the LAPD will submit the Orlando Bloom car crash case to the L.A. County D.A.'s office, and the D.A. will then decide whether to file felony hit and run charges against the actor.

Bloom crashed a car into a parked Porsche just after 2:00 AM Friday. He walked away from the crash, leaving two passengers inside the car, one injured with a fractured neck. X17 shot video of Bloom walking from the scene. Several photogs then told Bloom he'd be in big trouble if he kept walking, and Bloom turned back and asked if someone would call an ambulance -- suggesting he did not call 911 before leaving the scene. That would be an important factor in deciding if this were a hit and run.

Bloom claims a paparazzi-driven SUV caused the crash. Police are investigating. They are interviewing photogs at the scene. And law enforcement says there are surveillance tapes of the incident which they are also reviewing.

A cop connected with the case tells TMZ the case will be submitted to the D.A. "in a week or so."

This is complete BS. He didn't really walk away. He walked a few steps away and returned. The car was never out of his sight. That's not hit and run or hit and walk.
Like I said, it's complete BS.

Don't the LAPD have bigger fish to fry. Leave Orlando alone. He did nothing wrong. He took a few steps away from his car, the car wasn't out of his sight the whole time.
Come on people.

Ummm hello why didn't the photogs call the 911? They are just as at fault as he would be. They left the scene of the accident too following him with their cameras instead of trying to get help for people. Why aren't they being charged with something???? HELLO!!!!!

I agree, if it weren't for the paparazzi I don't think he would have gotten into the accident. But you must admit he WAS acting a bit strange before the whole car crash inccident - I mean that whole thing before with the guy in the car and the confrentation over the girl was bizaire. He didn't look drunk but I think he was on some kind of drugs or something, he was just acting too strange. I think that's why he walked away from the crash, he just seemed "out of it". Poor Bloom. He's so freakin' HOTT, too bad Hollywood got in the way....

Maybe he was in shock after the accident. I think the fact that he did turn around and come back instead of keeping going and locking himself in his house or getting a burger shows that he was concerned but maybe not in a competent mental state after what happened. I think i would be a little shocked scared and confused after an accident and may not react appropriatly as a result. He didnt mean to do anyone harm and he wasnt drunk so maybe we shouldnt jump the gun so early on?

Regardless of who caused the accident, Orlando should have stayed at the scene. If the photogs caused the accident then they'll have to take responsibility for it. Orlando made the decision to leave the scene on his own though. Any semi-decent person would have stayed to help someone who was clearly injured and bleeding from the head.

Instead, he ran off and didn't return until a photographer encouraged him to go back and pointed out that leaving the scene could be considered a hit and run. Apparently he never bothered to dial 911 either.

Wahtever his legal liability Orlando looks like a real rat at this point.

Does anyone really think Bloom intended to walk off into the night in hopes of avoiding the consequences of a minor accident videotaped and photographed by at least a half dozen people? This is crazy.

Mr. Bloom has consistantly shown courage in his professional and personal life. Such behavior is inconsistant. The only reasonable explanation is that he was in shock.

His passsengers both suffered injuries, yet he received no visible injuries. Where did the deceleration go? Probably in a whiplash that caused concussion and shock.
