The Audacity

Hogan Blames Victim

For Injuries

11/7/2007 12:32 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Nick's rep, Adam Handelsman, EVP of 5WPR, issued the following statement to TMZ:

"Nick and the entire Hogan Bollea family are saddened that criminal charges have been filed in regards to the tragic single car accident on August 26, 2007.

Nick will meet and answer these charges in the appropriate arena a court of law. The family's primary focus and concern still remains for the continued recovery of Nick's longtime friend John Graziano. The Bolleas will also continue to stand by the Graziano family and help them in any way they can.

The tragedy to both families is compounded by the fact that unfortunately John was not wearing his seatbelt. Thankfully, Nick was wearing his.

Because of what happened to John, the entire Bollea family will make it a priority to increase public awareness about the importance of always wearing your seatbelt. There has been much speculation as to the speed and wet road conditions surrounding this accident. Although all the evidence has not been evaluated, preliminary reports from the experts indicate that this was not, in fact, a high-speed accident. Because Nick is still a juvenile and has no prior criminal record, we are disappointed that he is being charged as an adult offender. However, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that this was an accident.

We ask all who follow these events to keep an open mind as to the facts until they have been ultimately determined. Finally, we thank all who have prayed for John's recovery and ask for your continued support and prayers."

OK...the Hogans will say they are letting the justice system handle it?? Seems to me that the Hulkster let Nick have a couple drinks during the day while out on the boat for THREE hours. Then Nick drives Hulks Supra and Hulk allows another of Nick's friends to drive his Viper. The media acts as if the driver of the Viper is unknown. WOW. Maybe they weren't totally drag racing but the two cars were screwing with each other and playing cat and mouse games and SPEEDING leading to a terrible crash.
In fact, the police report shows that the kid driving the Viper tried to call Hulk after the crash and couldn't reach him so he drove the Viper BACK to the house to tell Hulk. Hmmmm...why wouldn't he go to the wreck of his friend to help him first? Feeling guilty?
ALLLLL the prayers should go to the Ex-marine John...hopefully he will survive but a terrible tradgedy!

This kid Nick suffers from a bad case of "entitlement." He cannot sidestep this horrendeous accident, however. It is terribly unfortunate. That said, his parents, caught up in the whole LA/Hollywood trap, let down their son. They did; they can rationalize their reality-show penchant, but at the end of the day, they took a mid-teen, put him behind the wheel, and said, "Have a great day."

This kid deserved better than that message. Hulk Hogan is a good guy. He wasn't observant enough in this case.

His and his wife's lack of oversight here at least will serve as an example. Nick needs to pay the price. The victim's family deserves compensation in this case, in my view. My viewer-audience opinion. The Hogan family put themselves out there, right? They made money on their show. This is the horrible price. It's very sad.

The Hogans can blame John all they want for not wearing his seatbelt. Yes he was at fault for that. But the blame goes back onto Nick....it's his RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that anyone and everyone in the car is wearing their seatbelt. If you get pulled over for a passenger not wearing a seatbelt you get ticketed not the passenger...no matter what state it is.

Why I do think the Hogans should take more responsibility..Lets not forget that the young man Nick was with was the only other person who knows the true story. If Nick was drinkikn and speeding why would that young man chose to engage in reckless behavior by getting in the vehicle? If you get in to a vehicle with some one whos been drinkikng its just as much your fault.

You all think Papa Hogan didn't give Nick a tongue lashing . . . or Mama Hogan regretting saying anything to the media regarding car racing fun-rush. Nick, stop being a self spoiled and arrogant person. You would think that you worked all those years in the arena getting your body tossed around to make a comfortable living for the family. Take responsibility and move forward. As for his friend - God love him, when he comes out of it (I pray that he does), his parents should also get on his ass for not insisting that Nick stop driving recklessly (because that’s what friends are supposed to do), and for not wearing a seat belt. Tongue lashing hell – give both of them an old fashion belt whooping’.

The first thing I do before putting my car in gear is making sure that everyone in the car has their seatbelt on. It's the driver's responsibility to make sure all of their passengers are fastened in. Regardless of whether Nick was drinking, he had a responsibility to make sure that his friend was safe.

I shouldnt judge because when i was nicks age my friends and i would drink and get high and go from one party to the next and at the time i was the only one with a valid license. I know that god was watching over my stupid ass and now i know to teach my kids about safety and all the dangers and right from wrong and hope God will stay with them too. who lets their teenager get into drift racing? who gets their teen a new race car (mine was a 4cylinder 1986 mustang p.o.s.)! MAYBE nick and john were both drinking maybe john knew nick would be racing and tought it was fun too, and john didnt have a seatbelt on (who's to say it definitely wouldve saved him anyway?) at that age you think you are invinceable.....but no matter what , the fact is that nick was driving in a manner that he knew was dangerous. even my five year old son knows and can tell you "you cant blame someone else for your own actions" if only everyone would teach their children what i taught my son......... but like i said i shouldnt judge....

This is a terrible move to have pr firm doing your talking when his poor friend is laying...."yes, thankful Nick was wearing his seatbelt." This statement is a direct reflection on Terry and Linda, because I am sure this was their strategy. They should have taken that sentence out...what do the victim's parents think of such selfishness. I am sure the hogans are worried about a civil suit against them, I would be! Linda might need to get a JOB!

Let he who are without sin cast the first stone! Everyone has horrible things to say about other people, but no one likes to aim that high powered mirror at themselves. Unfortunately both youngsters found out the hard way what happens when you speed while drunk and what happens when you're not wearing your seat belt. Obviously we all know that there is a problem, so continuously bringing it up is not contributing to a solution. At this point the focus should be on John, I pray that God be at his side and the family's faith carry them through this ordeal. No one like to see bad things happen, and when they do fingers are pointed. Hopefully the parents along with all who were involved woke up,. Unfortunately a high price was paid. Please wake up, because maybe next time you won't be able to.

how can everyone blame the hogans? they are correct that the guy should have worn a seat belt. are they not? i mean of course there is a shared responsibility in an instance like this, but come on this guy didnt know he should buckle up or that they might be speeding around town? get real. and shame on all that have passed judgement on either party. we should all be as perfect as you.
