Why doesn't Ed McMahon just get a reverse mortgage touted by his pals James Garner and Robert Wagner?
I think the "modest" purchase by celebrity standards shows that Kelly is still a level-headed and down-to-earth girl, and probably realizes how hard it is to maintain an entertainment career long-term s why blow all your money on a mansion. She probably will be happier living in Nashville than LA anyway.

FYI: Getting a gigantic house like that, in that part of the county, isn't really that shocking. Unlike the east & left coasts, pricing for houses are pretty sane there, no matter what's going on in the U.S. economic world.
