Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the victim in the vicious knife attack outside San Diego is Kendra Beebe.
Actor Shelley Malil, who has appeared in films such as "The 40 Year Old Virgin," has been arrested on attempted murder charges. Authorities say Malil stabbed Beebe at least 20 times.
Neighbors tell TMZ Malil and Beebe were boyfriend/girlfriend. They were together as recently as Sunday morning, when they were spotted going to the gym. Over the weekend one neighbor saw them pack up the car with Beebe's two kids for a beach outing.
The kids were there when their 35-year-old mother was attacked. One neighbor tells us he saw Malil attacking Beebe with a knife, and saw another man in the backyard, who appeared to be trying to stop the attack. The neighbor says that man fled the scene but returned to speak with cops.
After the attack, before paramedics arrived, that neighbor came over and wrapped Kendra in a blanket to stop the bleeding. Cops told him he may have saved her life.
Beebe's condition is unknown, however one local TV station reports she's in critical condition but expected to survive.

It is sad that so many people are filled with such hatred...like most of the people that leave comments here. I actually know & have worked with this man. Obviously something made him snap and the results will be devasting to not only the victim, but to him & both of their families. So many of us have been in situations where we felt we could go over an edge & unfortunately, he did. I hope that none of you hate mongers are ever in the same situation, because it is possible. I'll pray for Ms. Beebe, Shelley, their families & for all of you that take a story like this and use it as an opportunity to spew your venom.

First, India is in Asian, not the middle east. The cultural differences between India and the Middle East are vast.
Second, Indian men are not violent. The majority of my doctors are Indian. I've dated Indian men. Stating that someone did something because of their race shows that you're uneducated, racist and uninformed. If you check the statistics you will find that the majority of spousal abuse is done by white men. Take a look at a website that lists men who have killed their families. Count the number of white men as opposed to non-whites. It will be five to one.
