Oprah Caught Between Barack and a Hard Place

9/5/2008 11:27 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

There is a war brewing behind the scenes at the Oprah Winfrey show, one that could force Oprah to break her allegiance with Barack Obama -- so Sarah Palin can get some face time.

According to the, members of Oprah's sharply-divided staff are putting serious pressure on the talk show queen to book the first woman on a Republican ticket -- but not everybody is on-board.

A Winfrey insider tells Drudge, "Oprah's website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama."

But after Sarah's star-making coming-out party, how can Oprah NOT book her? Decisions... decisions...

So far, O's peeps refused to comment.

It's Oprah's show and she can do whatever she wants. However , celebrities and "entertainment" venues should beware of taking on the role of political pundits. They take a very real chance of ostracizing their audiences because of their rabid political beliefs.

As many have said before, shut up and sing or shut up and entertain me.

Sarah Palin is a LIAR and continues to deceive the American Public.

As first reported in the Anchorage Daily News, questions arose about Governor Palin's so called "pregnancy".

Secret's out: Palin pregnant (03/06/08)
SEVEN MONTHS ALONG: Even her staff was unaware that the first family was expecting a fifth child.

JUNEAU -- Gov. Sarah Palin shocked and awed just about everybody around the Capitol on Wednesday when she announced she's expecting her fifth child.

"I thought it was becoming obvious," Gov. Sarah Palin said. "You know, clothes getting snugger and snugger."

The governor, who recently turned 44, told a handful of reporters as she was leaving work to expect a new member of the first family, then headed to a reception at the Baranof Hotel to feast on king crab.

Palin said she's already about seven months along, with the baby due to arrive in mid-May.

That the pregnancy is so advanced astonished all who heard the news. The governor, a runner who's always been trim, simply doesn't look pregnant.

Even close members of her staff said they only learned this week their boss was expecting.

"I thought it was becoming obvious," Palin said. "You know, clothes getting snugger and snugger."

But people just couldn't believe the news.

"Really? No!" said Bethel state Rep. Mary Nelson, who is close to giving birth herself.

"It's wonderful. She's very well-disguised," said Senate President Lyda Green, a mother of three who has sometimes sparred with Palin politically. "When I was five months pregnant, there was absolutely no question that I was with child."

Zach's grandma

I am 50+ years old and am not going to vote for the 1st time ever UNLESS there is a good independant.

Obama screwed thing up by not picking Hil. I don't trust him on his own.

I would never vote for McCain or his running mate. All women can take 50 years back on that ticket.

WHat a mess.

Obama ultimately will be disastrous when it comes to protecting our country during the time of war and terror that
we face today. I can maybe see him as a presidential candidate in the future but not right now.

Furthermore the Clinton admin and Democrats did nothing to prevent 911 from happening to begin with.
This terror situation landed in Bush's lap not long after he was elected because the Democratic foreign policy is in la la land. So it makes Bush look bad when in fact he has done an amazing job protecting the United States!!!

Both dems and repubs voted for the war and Obama didn't so that to me says he is lacking the drive to really defend
our country. We didn't find out that there weren't weapons of mass destruction until we went into Iraq!!! In the world we
live in today you can't go to one of our enemies and say would like to sit down and have a cup of coffee and talk about
how you want to kill americans?

McCain has the policies and the experience more than biden. Obama is in kindergarten when it comes to this.
Palin has experience much more experience running Alaska and tastes foreign policy every day.

Taxing rich people and small businesses is detrimental to our economy and will be disastrous for the middle class and poor people because if you do tax the businesses then they will have to lower wages for workers to compensate for their overhead.

Helthcare and the housing crisis can be solved by the Republicans reforming Washington and working with both parties to come up with a solution that makes sense for all americans.

Just cause Obama wants to put a bandaid on the problem for the time being and spew rhetoric to get himself elected is not the solution.

McCain admin will get us out of debt and he will put money back in the pockets of all americans by reforming Washington.

Obama is a kindergartner blabbing to try to please people and say what they want to hear. But that is not the reality.
Wake up america.

Oprah is out of control and hopefully on her way out. She really torpedoed her career. Haven't watched her, or any Harpo productions, since this election - and won't ever again.

Newsflash, Oprah - you are not God, nor are you the decider of elections.

Obama should lose just for the fact that celebs should not be deciding elections.

Oprah should not be using public airwaves or abusing her position to further her personal political and racist agenda.

She is despicable and likes Obama because they share a deluded Messiah-complex.

This is just another case of media bias. It saddens me that Oprah, who historically has been a "champion of the people", has pressed her one-sided political views on her audience. As such a high profile media figure with mass appeal she should expose her very diverse audience to both sides so that those folks can make an educated decision and develop their own opinions.

Oprah wields incredible power and pursuation. Hell, one bad comment from her can damn near shut down an industry. Anyone remember the beef kafufle? With such power comes great responsibility. While I very much respect her personal political views she should maintain a neutral stance publicly. I'm a democrat and I've always been a huge fan and supporter of Oprah but she really needs to respect the views of her entire audience.

My comment at #11 was supposed to say "countless". No spell check for me today, I guess. I would also like to say upon reflection that many comments here are correct. This is HER show. It's not like she is NBC Nightly News and obligated to at least pretend to show both sides of an issue or play unbiased. It is her show and she can have on whoever she pleases. It would just be MY hope that she display a little class and equal opportunity in showing that Palin's nomination just like Obama's is historic and noteworthy and it would be interesting to see Palin as a person on a fun show like Oprah's. It would not mean Oprah was endorsing Palin/McCain. Oprah has made it abundantly clear which ticket she supports. It would be classy and unexpected though, and yes, a good business decision and I think would benefit Oprah with winning back some of her "voter base" by doing it.

I think they should invite her on the show. The McCain camp won't let her appear anyway--they've already said no interviews except for pre-approved, scripted ones (what a ridiculous slam to Mrs. Palin who seems quite able to handle herself in front of a camera). That way Oprah would get credit for the gesture without having to actually feature her.

And while I'm commenting, I am SO sick of hearing about how Repubs are better at protecting our country. 9/11 happened on Bush's watch, a full month AFTER he & Condoleeza got a report saying that terrorists were plotting to attack the Twin Towers. And then instead of following Bin Laden into Pakistan, they set up a straw horse so their oil buddies can make $1500 per SECOND in profits.

Repubs are NOT protecting our country - they're destroying it. Talk about waking up, people!!!
