KLA -- Nope, guess again -- all my kids are well into their 20s, no teen pregnancies among them -- obviously giving them fact-based info from the beginning and ensuring they had proper access to effective birth control worked in our family. And I most certainly have EVERY right to know, not assume, that a woman who would ban all forms of sex-ed except abstinence-only programs (which the stats already show do not work) and also wants to outlaw abortion in all situations, including rape and incest, would create an environment that would indeed cause the teen pregnancy rate to rise...just simple common sense, really. I actually have no opinion one way or the other on Bristol's pregnancy -- her decision to become a mother at 17 is her personal, private matter, or should have been... it was shameful the way her mother trotted that poor kid out into the world spotlight in an effort to demonstrate her own "Family Values" agenda. And that's really the issue, KLA -- I don't want Palin and her ilk making those kinds of decisions for me, my children, and my grandchildren. You really didn't understand my previous post -- let me know if you require further clarification on this one.

Whoo hoo! My local news station just said the John McCain has pull ahead in the "who would you vote for" poll.

As a older female who has seen a lot of elections, I have to tell you that this is one of the strangest ever. This election seems to be between the democratic presidential candidate, and the republican vice-presidential candidate. John McCain and Joe Biden seem to be irrelevant in this election.

Is it because McCain and Biden are old guys, and Barrack and Palin are younger? The USA does seem to value youth over older and wiser people. Any who, both McCain and Barrack won all their primaries to become the presidential candidates, and Biden and Palin were selected by each of them - not by the "people".

Barrack may come to regret that he didn't choose Hillary as his running mate. It will probably cost him the election, but if he had chosen her, he still would have lost because the Hillary people wanted her as president.

It's apparent to me, that this is not the time for the 1st half-black president. It is the time for the1st female vice-president.

And ... Well. John's an old guy, - and he has had a lot of health problems .... maybe in the end, USA gets it's 1st female president.

# 30-Geeze maybe you should raise everyone's children, NOT, what a know at all. But then Budda lady says it all. If your daughter's are anything like you, it's understandable why they never got pregnant.

I dont' care if her 17 year-old daughter is pregnant -- that's none of my business. However, I would not vote for Palin just because she has been governor for less than two years, and is a woman. Give me a break. Vote based on this woman's record and experience; that is, if you have the time and intelligence to look into her background. We have, and she is not who she says she is; nor has she accomplished what she says she has. She has misrepresented herself and her accomplishments in the media. All's far in love and politics -- especially, if you haven't been honest about who you are. I am disappointed in McCain for insutling our rintelligence at this obvious political ploy in garnering more votes from women and the Evangelical right. No sale!

People have looked deeper into what Palin has actually accomplished in Alaska more that Alaskan contiuents have, themselves. Unbelievable!

#33 - If a polical figure does not agree with 20% of what I do that doesn't mean I don't choose them. Basically, I would be very happy to teach my own child in my own home about sex and how to protect themselves. I never liked it in the class (as a teen) and I know for a fact that most kids prefer it to be a privately tought/discussed subject. So this being said, I do not on any level feel sex should be a subject tought in a public class room. That's my point. Also, if your daughters did not get pregnant good on you. But I happen to know a few 17yr olds who did get preganant and attended all the so called sex ed classes. The government can't control all 17yr olds even a government mom. A teen pregnancy in no way should be a reason for any women not to pursue a job or back off from any endevor. Her daughter had a choice and now she can deal with it. She knew her mom was a public figure regless of office. It blows me away how women are going around higher than mighty acting as though this teen pregnancy is unusual! PLEASE. This is the real world we live in.

KLA, sorry to burst your bubble but Buddha Lady is right. I also have a daughter in college. Her school as well as her father and I taught her about birth control. We also taught her why she shouldn't have children until she was ready, willing and able to care for them. And why casual sex is a bad idea and that she should wait until she was in solid relationship. She's still a virgin and several of her friends whose conservative church taught them abstinence had children at 16. A 17 year old getting pregnant is not news unless her mother is running for vice president on a "family values" platform. My family values are very different from mine and the ones I was raised with and we've done very well with them. Sarah Palin can have any values she wants but she can't determine what mine should be. And that's only one of my issues with her. She has almost no experience, I'm sorry, but less than two years governing a state a position she won by running on an anti-corruption platform but she has practiced corruption on several occasions since her election. Governing a small town in the same state does not count as much experience either.
DIANE T, I would never vote with my womb and I'm surprised that you intend to. I voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary but if she thinks that Barack Obama will make a good president then I'm going to listen to her. I will vote for a woman as president or vice president when a competent candidate is running but not until then. A womb does not necessarily make someone a good candidate.
