3. Patricia Neal is a class act. She visited my disabled son's camp on Martha's Vineyard this summer to see the kids. She does this quietly and without fanfare unlike the Angelina Jolies' of today who do "charitable" work with an entourage and camera crew.

5. She's not deceased...and she was in the original Waltons too. She had three strokes before she was thirty. She's Ironwoman.

6. My first and favorite exposure to the great Patricia Neal was as the original mother on the first episode of "The Waltons", a Christmas special from the 70's called "The Homecoming". Never was quite as good with the second actress once you'd seen her play the role.

She had a wonderful deep and gravelly voice, very slowly and carefully measured out, which was due to the strokes she had. She lost her ability to speak young and went through extensive rehab to be able to speak again.

Wish sometimes TMZ (and I love you guys) wouldn't be so cruel to the elderly and disabled's appearance. Some boundaries just shouldn't be crossed, it hurts the heart when you say it.
