Joan Jett

Tries to Rock Block

Jackie Fox

8/23/2009 7:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Joan Jett just fired off a lawsuit against former Runaways band member Jackie Fox saying she's ticked Fox is trying to cash in on the band's name, a trademark Jett says she owns herself.

In the suit -- which reads like a "Behind the Music" of the rockin' 70s girl group -- Jett alleges her former bassist has "threatened" her business partners, claiming she also has the right to be paid for the use of the Runaways trademarks.

Jett says Fox has also been a nuisance with the production of the band's biopic, starring Kristen Stewart, saying Jackie has tried to halt filming until she sees/approves a script. According to Joan, there is no character based on Jackie in the movie.

Joan is seeking damages suffered from Fox's alleged meddling and a declaration from the court saying Fox has no right to the band name or any money made from it.

"That is not Cherie Currie. Have you not seen the full picture. Cherie is beside Joan in the full picture!!!! Jackie is behind Joan!! You do know that TMZ took their faces and zoomed in. Jeez. That's pretty sad if you say that is Cherie Currie."

They initially had the wrong picture up. Relax.

apparently the Larkins never taught their daughter, share and share alike. I don't believe Joan was on stage all alone by herself when The Runaways performed. Maybe she is happy Sandy passed on, one less person to pay.

Okay, apparently TMZ has changed the pictures but I'm still confused... are those two the same person? If not, which one is which?

They both look a lot like Joanie from Happy Days to me...

That is Joan on the left, Jackie on the right. This is gonna be a hell of a mess, Joan looks like she grabbed up the name rights to the band while no one, not even Harvard lawyer Jackie, was looking. Now she is basically telling Jackie to go away, she has no legal claim to the Runaways any more..

Business 101

A lot of you here haven't been following the trials and tribulations of The Runaways for very long. There is a lot more to the story. The truth will come out. The real fans know. Some of you have it all backwards. Look, straight from the U.S. Patent & Trademark office:

Owner of Trademark is Blackheart Records - Joan's record company.

Jackie who? Fuchs deserves nothing. Joan/Cherie/Lita/Sandy were the Runaways. Joan and Cherie sang, Sandy and Lita rocked and
occasionally sang as on "Wild Thing" live and "I'm A Million."
Fuchs was less important to the Runaways than Stu Sutcliffe was to
the Beatles.

R.I.P. Sandy. Miss seeing you around the O.C.

Thats a little silly, uhm make that a lot. Stu Sutcliffe played in The Beatles in Hamburg only, and BEFORE they made it big, most importantly BEFORE they recorded a damm record (at least any recognizable Beatles record). Jackie Fox on the other hand was a key part (1/5) of THE classic Runaways lineup that recorded most of their best songs and toured the world. It was all down hill after Jackie Fox left, shortly followed by Cherie Currie. Go watch some of the old Runaways concert videos from 1976-77, Jackie Fox was actually a pretty decent bass player. Stu Sutcliffe was a musical hack who was very temporarily in The Beatles because he was John Lennons friend, and while The Beatles were still a nothing band playing Germans beer halls.
