Jackson Estate Settles Music Suit

9/17/2009 6:20 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael JacksonLawyers for Michael Jackson's estate have asked the probate judge to give them the green light so they can settle a music lawsuit filed against the singer.

The suit was filed in federal court in Northern Illinois by Syl Johnson. Johnson claims Jackson and 11 other defendants unlawfully reproduced one of his recordings.

We've learned Jackson and the other defendants have settled for a total of $150,000 and Jackson will kick in his share -- $12,500 -- upon approval by the probate court.

The other defendants include Dr. Dre, Will Smith and the estate of Tupac Shakur.

That sounds like somebody who makes a living suing singers. I'm glad they settled and got this out of the way.

Stop Milking his name

How can they sue that many artists for a single song? What is the story behind that?

I have all of MJ's albums, and for the life of me, I cannot think of a song that could link tupac, will smith, Dr Dre & MJ.

Quick and easy as it should be. At least Michael was in good company in this.

On Feb 3,2009 Sly Johnson a 72 yr old African from Cameroon sued Michale Jackson for song parts Jacko stole from his 1972 "Soul Makossa" for his ( Jacko) Thirller album for the son "Wanna Be Startin Something", it was settled. Johnson sued in France for 500,000 Euros.
I do not doubt that Jackos stole more from this man,the others perhaps.
