It seemed like innocent fun ... but these pictures of Olympic bronze medalist Scotty Lago proved a bit too much for Vancouver -- Scotty is packing up his newly-polished medal and leaving.
Scotty apologized to the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association after we posted the photo -- taken on a public street with a crowd of people watching -- before volunteering to go home.
TMZ published the photo and apparently it didn't sit well with someone. He's a snowboarder for cryin' out loud. They should have cut him a break.

FEEL BAD THAT YOU RUINED SOMEONES LIFE?ISNT THAT WHAT YOU DO?
Wonder what he would have gotten from her if he won the gold...
even tho he was the one fooling around, YOU TMZ knew what this would result in...shame on you!!!
TMZ you must be proud and happy for getting the picture? You had to have known that this particular picture would not look good to the image of the US Olympic Comm. Poor guy, he was just doing what all the other young people were doing that night, only he gets caught & sent home. Thanks to TMZ
Oh! I thought that was Adam Lambert! My bad!! See what the clown started??
TMZ, do you see all the anti-TMZ comments there are on this. Stop.
God forbid someone tries to have a little fun anymore. TMZ, you know how prim and proper the Olympics are...why, why, why would you think that posting this photo wouldn't have negative results? Now this poor guy is going to miss the closing ceremonies. Nice way to ruin yet another person's dreams. Booo to you, TMZ!
Man give the guy a break not everyone can be on opera lol and you cant blame TMZ he is an olympic champion someone would have found that picture I like Scotty a lot more now after seeing the picture
LOL! "-- taken on a public street with a crowd of people watching --" You sound like a kid making excuses. This guy didn't deserve the negative attention. You know his leaving is your fault, not his. Just apologize. Your readership is 100% against you. You guys were douchey enough to publish it in the first place. Are you going to be douchey enough not to just say you're sorry?
He is representing this country. He cost himself alot of money. Maybe TMZ should pay him for this picture. He deserves to go home now.
