Simon vs. Ellen - They Don't Idolize Each Other

2/25/2010 4:38 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres flat out don't get along, and the tension is building ... this according to multiple "American Idol" sources.

Our insiders say Simon and Ellen aren't even trying to hide it. Ellen can't stand what she believes is Simon's cruelty toward contestants. And, we're told, Simon actually enjoys pissing Ellen off with his blistering critiques.

People working on the show last night tell TMZ ... it was apparent on and off camera ... Simon's tolerance level for the contestants was at an all-time low, and he knew it was making Ellen uncomfortable but clearly didn't care. As one insider put it, "He was intentionally pushing her buttons."

It all started badly ... as Deadline Hollywood first reported .. when Simon showed up late for Ellen's first week of "A.I." taping and made her wait around. Producers separated the two -- who began the season sitting side-by-side -- but the tension has gotten worse.

But business is business. "A.I." is beating the Olympics, and ratings for Ellen's show skyrocketed last week. In Hollywood, contempt has its upside.

I like both Ellen and Simon, but Simon has a tendency to act entitled. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and has always lived a privileged life. Basically, Simon Cowell is a brat and a bit of a diva. Ellen is ridiculously nice and very down to earth, so her and Simon don't mix well...big surprise!(not) She doesn't fit in at all on this show, and the tension between her and Simon is making it worse. It's like she can't even be funny because she's so busy being uncomfortable in the same room with him. This show is dead meat anyway. Everyone knows it's winding down. I can't wait for the X Factor. It's a better show anyway. Just let Idol die people! It was dead after Carrie Underwood's season. Taylor Hicks put the final nail in the coffin the following year.

I like both of these Kids, Simon and Ellen, however Ellen even though invited shouldn't be so critical of someone, Simon, that we want to be the ones that give him the "What For". Simon is our, The Viewers Meat, and Ellen is intruding on our turf. Yes Ellen is in to something that she needs to take a little time with before giving our Music Hero Judge down the road. It's Simon's Show as someone has already said and Ellen knew that up front. So, What to Do? Ellen behave, Simon, Ellen is a lady so hold your Tongue.

Just a quick note here on how we think the same. This is the frist time I have left a note, and while I was waiting on approval I read
Note 166 written by Tricia. My note is No. 168. We both started our notes, and/or messages with "I like both" and we both used the word "Meat" in our notes, which is not a word that many people use today. I stand in Amazement, and My hat is off to Tricia.

I'm tired of Ellen already. She has no musical talent or abilities. Plus she is gay. Yuck.

The Show really has gotten boring in a sense but at the same time it is still watchable because I really know that there is some good singers on there. I think that they are trying to hard to please the judges. I really wish they would sing from the heart and what they feel and also pick some songs that they can relate too. The criticism are not bad they just know what they are looking for or what they know from experience. Ellen might not be in the music business but she loves music that's important!

hmmm

Team Simon. Ellen stole her seat from Paula. The show is boring without Drunk Paula dancing. That's the main reason I watched... that and the Simon/paula chemistry.

Well, she doesn't really belong on that show, doesn't she?

Anyway, she just have to wait - in a couple of months, Cowell's gone... and Stern is in!?

Well, it looks like this show has finally "jumped the shark". Simon is the show, he seems like he is so bored this season. Ellen is funny, but she is no judge for a show like this. At least when Paula was there it was fun to guess if she was drunk, stoned or both. I will probably not watch the rest of the season, as the girls last night sucked so badly and if the boys (still have to watch PVR'ed it) are the same, I will not watch the rest. I am sure I am not the only person feeling the same way. On the radio this morning where I live, all they talked about was how bad the show is now and how no one was going to continue watching it.

Watch Out, There's JAWS!

I didn't see any tension between Simon and Ellen. I did see Tara grimace at some of Simon's comments.
