Ben Roethlisberger: 'I'm Truly Sorry'

4/12/2010 5:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

With his head down and a monotone delivery, Ben Roethlisberger finally gave a statement about the sexual assault investigation in Georgia, saying he's "happy to move forward."

Reading off a note card, Ben walked up to a podium in the Steelers' locker room and told a small group of reporters, "I'd like to begin by expressing gratitude for the thorough investigation process in Georgia and the prosecutor's decision not bring charges."

He continued, "I know without a doubt that it was the right conclusion. I don't intend to discuss any details relating to the events in Georgia, and I'm happy to put this behind me and move forward."

Ben also stated, "I'm truly sorry for the disappointment and negative attention I've brought to my family, teammates, coaches, the Rooneys, and the NFL. I understand the opportunities I've been blessed with are a privilege and that much is expected of me as the QB of the Pittsburgh Steelers."

Roethlisberger concluded, "I absolutely want to be the leader this team deserves, valued in the community and a role model to kids. I have much work to do to earn this trust and I'm committed to improving and showing everyone my true values. I'm excited to get back to work w/my teammates and more determined than ever to have a great season."

Seriously???!!!?? How can people really make this a racial issue?? Yes, I am white! Yes, I think Tiger was a jerk for what he did! Yes, I still think that Kobe got off easy!! And, (surprise), I absolutely think that "Big Ben" belongs in an orange jumpsuit behind bars! This is NOT a race issue...it's a sex issue...men treating women badly and getting away with it.

Hey Lisa, The racial issue isn't about Ben NOT being charged and other Black NFL players who ran amuck of the rules of decency being charged. It is about the way the Steeler organization has handled this whole situation! With Santonio Holmes being traded and other players being fired or traded from the team, for doing much less than Ben was accused of doing! Anyone with a clear brain and honest heart will see the bias in the actions of the Steeler organization's actions!

I don't think that this is in any way a racial issue...and, honestly, am tired of everyone pulling the race card whenever a situation happens to involve people of color, or not! This is about a man who treats women like sh**!!! And, obviously it's going to take someone getting hurt to get him off the street! These athletes, and actors, are untouchable. Trust me...if it was men being abused by women, there wouldn't be enough money in the world to cover it up! I'm just sayin"...........

TMZ annoys me sometimes with their manipulative headlines. For instance, they write "I'm truly sorry" for this headline making readers think he's admitting guilt, but when you read the fine print he was sorry for the negative attention affecting his family.

Its not that blacks are crying wolf online you A typical "Auschlos", White people are so quick to torpedo any celebrity of color on here and its all a party, but when its a action that would garner a tongue lashing form hell of a this guy, its now " Oh it was nothing, he is harmless... " no people you dont like the fact that the race is a factual problem... step out of your world and really look at how people respond to non whites. Compare Tiger to Jesse..... nuff said

Mike you are a disgusting P-I-G insinuating that it's okay to RAPE "snatch" you are familiar with enough to figure out they won't sue you. I guess you were raised to look at women this way. Hope you are not married or have a girlfriend - you dont deserve any woman in your life - your comments show me that you are a sympathizer of the RAPIST and look at women as objects. PIG!

I was glad to see that ben had been suspended but that is not enough. We know he is guilty. If he wasn`t out there living the life of a "common slug" we wouldn`t be having this conversation. He thinks just because there is a warm body close by, it is his for the taking. The only way he can get rid of his sick lust is abuse someone. It is apparent, no one wants anything to do with you.

Big Ben wants to be a "role model for kids"? The level of self-delusion in that statement is stunning. News flash, Ben, you've just been called out for your second sexual assault in less than a year. The press is filled with accounts about how you bought liquor for underage girls, calling them bitches as you did so. It may not seem fair to you, but two Super Bowl rings do not entitle you to go into a locked bathroom with a drunk girl and have sexual intercourse with her while she's crying and begging you to stop. Life just isn't fair. And now, this morning, a third victim of one of your sexual assaults has just gone public. How many more are there. Perhaps the toxic manner in which you and your attornies have attacked the Nevada victim will scare most of them into silence. You're standing there as one of the most reviled men in America. Check your negative/positive numbers in yesterday's poll by the Examiner and at pollingreport.com. You're more hated than Mike Tyson was the day he went to prison. Your numbers are way worse than Tiger Woods are. Get this, your numbers are worse than Timothy McVeigh's were the day he was convicted for the Oklahoma City bombing. A role model for kids? Good luck with that, Ben. As amazing as it may sound to you, no one pities you. The ones who are pitied are the victims of your sexual assaults, and your sister Carlee, and your step-mother, Brenda, for the humiliation you've put them through. They may say supportive things to your face, but they know. Live with that, Ben.

Just read number 7 and you will know wny racism just will not die. Each time some black person (yeah, tell me that post was from a white person!) tries to make a racial issue out of everything, another white person grows a little more racist. Black athletes get away with stuff no one black or white dreams about. Nobody is "hounding" Tiger Woods. Man married a very pretty, very white and no one batted an eye. Then cheated on her with a series of white woman. No body cares.

Here is a clue, if the "N-Word" best describes you, then that is your world. Far too many black people living in the mainstream to let "those other people" (as Chris Rock's mom calls them) continue to call the shots.

As to "where are the white people": they are right here in GA trying to a least get the cop kicked out of the DEA - diligently. Here is something those "other people" do not understand. White people hate criminals. We don't care what color they are except when there little bitch selves cry racism when they get caught, convicted, and imprisoned. Hell, if being black give one such a bad rap in the justice system, you would think there would be far less black criminals to begin with.

Has no one else picked up on the fact that this "body guard" is a wanna be DEA Agent. (Not actually an agent, he is a cop assigned to a task force run by the DEA). I will not bother asking if this is the kind of person the DEA wants to be associated with. We all know that answer.

Perhaps the racist blacks here might get a clue. If you are an NFL star and you hang out with people who deserve to be called "monkeys" - its not your color, fool; its how you act - not to mention thugs and gang-bangers, you are no more than a target for the cops. If you are "smart" - like this cracker Big Ben - you roll with cops linked to the DEA. That is how you get away with it. If you think anyone gets away with a crime because he is white is retard. I have done time and plenty of other crackers in there to. You think white people hate black criminals? To them nothing is worse than a white criminal. Even hard core racists often think black people have an excuse.

Let me weigh in with one more item. We all know Big Ben here is a rapist. But the comments by women here demonstrate exactly why most men don't take them seriously. The fact there is no shortage of sleazy woman ready **** about anything. They line up in droves for rock stars, movies stars, sports stars, you name it. God, if a woman spent one day checking out porn, she would immediately realize that young females willling to **** someone on camera is in the hundreds and thousands. Then the women cry "oh, they are exploited!" Utter bull****! The girls OWN and run the internet porn business just as they do the commercial porn business.

No doubt most women are decent. But to think that other type is rare or non-existent is fantasy.

And while I do not doubt the girl said "It's not OK", the question is what was she doing there? Do people still exist who do not at least imagine what happens in the VIP?

Perhaps woman are so convinced of their moral superiority that they have no need to watch after their own best interests. Despite what did or did not go down in most celebrity rape allegations, in almost every case, the female in question willing entered the hotel rooms of an individual publicly known as an aggressive male (Tyson, Kobe, et al)

Sorry, one last item. For my darker brothers all upset about the white man. So exactly why are they not bring charges in Midgeville? Just ask the BLACK cop who was forced to resign. Yeah, I know, if the cop white, he would not have had to resign. Sure, believe that if it makes you feel better. But the fact is it was a black cop, not a white cop making sure the case would go further. But that doesn't fit into the racism narrative. Speaking of that, how is that working out for you brothas? I don't hear that much from the $45 an hour black IT pros I work with. They put that **** aside, got a job, move my MY neighborhood where they were welcomed and they thrive. Pull them pants up!
