Lindsay Lohan was axed from a movie because she's not "bankable" -- this according a source connected with the production of the flick.
Lindsay was slated to star in "The Other Side," a movie about a grad student working on a deserted island.
David Michaels, the writer/director, tells TMZ, "Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we'll soon be announcing a replacement."
But sources connected with the film tell us the people financing the film were skittish about relying on Lindsay.
The movie also stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette.
And there's this twist ... at one point Brittany Murphy was attached to the movie.
Lindsay's rep had no comment.
BTW -- Lindsay was out at Chateau Marmont and Trousdale last night. Photo of her leaving below. Not too difficult to understand where Mr. Michaels was coming from.

First of all KKK is a complete jackass as you can see by the post up above. Now onto Lindsay, she should go to rehab for 6 months and come back in shape and focused. The first thing she should do is a play or take on a few bit part roles where she can come in and shine and not be a part of the reason a movie succeeds or fails. Build herself back up. She used to be a somewhat decent actress before she wanted to be a porn star type sex symbol. And forget the lesbian stuff, unless its with someone who doesn't look like a guy.
It is amazing and unfortunate that a woman this young can be associated with so much scandal. One hopes she seeks and/or gets help before it is too late.
The way this poor soul is treated in Hollywood and the way everyone talks about her, in such a nasty and derogatory way, is a form of bullying. Why did this company hire Lindsay in the first place if they were just going to dump her later?. It seems a mean spirited and cruel thing to do.
