Gilbert Arenas -- More Trouble Over Guns

4/29/2010 4:39 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Gilbert Arenas -- the Washington Wizards basketball player who pled guilty to felony gun charges in January -- has more gun problems ... TMZ has learned.

We've obtained a lawsuit filed against Arenas by Tactical Operations -- a company that sells high-end guns.

According to the lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Arenas bought five custom Beretta pistols with five silencers in February of 2006.  Arenas paid for the guns, BUT....

Tactical Operations claims Arenas never took possession of the weapons -- and owes the company over $70,000 in storage fees and interest.

The correct term is 'suppressor' not silencer. It suppresses the crack made as the bullet breaks the sound barrier...it cannot 'silence' (implying that it removes all noise) the report. #36 suppressors are legal to own in 34 states by civilians. All that is required is an application, fingerprints, photos, $200 to ATF, and waiting the ~3 months for approval. It is a very tightly regulated process with background checks done at the local, state and federal levels.

i mean get real, you guys are responsible for once the monies were paid for the merchandise to either deliver said product, or contact the owner for immediate delivery or pick up of the merchandise, you guys waited four years, to then out of the blue, request 70 k? yeah right, grow the f*** up and wake up, the judge is going to dismiss this as laughable

james, 'silencer' is fine. your oft-parroted point is pathetic. wow, it doesn't completely silence the gun. who knew?

whatever you want to call it, it cannot suppress 'the crack made as the bullet breaks the sound barrier'. a suppressor's either designed for subsonic rounds, or through intentional pressure relief prevents standard rounds from ever going supersonic, internally or externally.

THERE ARE RAPPERS, WHO SOMETIMES ARE LESS FORTUNATE, AND THEN THERE IS WEALTH , BUT THEY CAN'T HELP EVERYONE AND THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE TO. THEY ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO BE ABLE TO PROTECT THEMSELVES, LOOK AT T.I. HE IS NOT THAT BIG OF A MAN THERE IS GOING TO BE TIMES WHEN HE IS ALONE (THIS IS NOT A PERFECT WORLD) MABE IN A CAR OR WHATEVER. HE NEEDS TO BE ABLE TO PROTECT HIMSELF AND HIS FAMILY. THIS IS A WRONG RULE WHERE A MAN CAN'T PROTECT THEMSELVES . I DON'T BELIEVE IN DRINKING ,OR DRUGS OF ANY KIND SHOULD BE AROUND GUNS, I DO BELIEVE IF WHO EVER IS A LAW ABIDING CITIZEN RAPPER,SPORTS STAR ,BLACK OR WHITE,RED, OR YELLOW, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE AND READY TO TAKE ACTION IF THEY ARE IN DANGER BECAUSE THE PERPATRADER HAS A GUN AND MOST LIKELY A POSSIE.

Hitman? Do you people have any knowledge of guns? Why do you compare hin to a hitman because of wanting silencers? Silencers are helpful when shooting and other people are around. This reduces noise! AL Gore should love this.. Better for the environment. Also for you geniouses out there, he wasn't a felon when this occured!

Guys, tac ops is a top of the line builder in the gun world. He builds world class rifles and does AMAZING work. Imagine you spend the time and effort building some great guns for a customer and then the guy doesn't pick them up. Sure he paid for them but now they are sitting in your shop taking up space for 4 years. Think the situation through. I'm sure he received numerous phone calls, emails, etc. He won't get back with you on it and your now stuck with no other option than to store the guns for him. You'd be pretty mad too. You can't just sell them, they belong to someone else. It's a headache for the company, and hopefully this will teach that fool how to take care of business and priorities

@ thomas "#21 The proper companion for target shooting is legal ear protection, not a silencer." - Correct, if you can't legally obtain a silencer. Suppressing the noise at it source (the gun) is arguably much safer and preferred to suppressing the sound at it's destination (the ear). 1) ear protection renders you near deaf to those around you, a serious safety issue when guns are involved, and 2) everyone in the room needs to be wearing ear protection or they risk hearing damage. IMO both methods are "proper companions" to target shooting. The only reason ear muffles are the preferred choice are cost, the fact you only need one pair for all guns, and excessive tight controls on law abiding citizens owning suppressors. The fact is if suppressors were easier to lawfully obtain the vast majority of owners would be law abiding citizens who use them for hearing protection, not government assassins and hit men.

@dmnyc "Um. Silencers are illegal. Everywhere." -And ignorance is rampant too. There's a cure for that these days, it's called Google.

"The United States taxes and strictly regulates the manufacture and sale of suppressors under the National Firearms Act. They are legal for individuals to possess and use for lawful purposes in thirty-eight of the fifty states.[16] However, a prospective user must go through an application process administered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which requires a Federal tax payment of USD 200.00 and a thorough criminal background check. The USD 200.00 buys a tax stamp, which is the legal do***ent allowing possession of a silencer. The market for used suppressors in the U.S. is consequently very poor, which has driven innovations in the field (buyers want the height of technology, because they are basically "stuck" with the purchase). Primitive suppressors are available in other countries for under USD 40,[17] but they are usually of crude construction, using cheap materials and baffle designs that were obsolete in the United States by the 1970s. While suppressors in the US are more expensive (hundreds to thousands of dollars), they are generally built with highly advanced baffle stacks and exotic materials like Inconel and high-grade heat-treated stainless steels.[original research?] Several states and municipalities explicitly ban any civilian possession of suppressors.

The Federal legal requirements to manufacture a suppressor in the United States are enumerated in Title 26, Chapter 53 of the United States Code.[18] The individual states and several municipalities also have their specific requirements."

IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL SILENCERS!!!! FACT!

Federal law prohibits sale of silencers except to governmental agencies with an End User Certificate

@Uh Kyle, I suggest you explain that to Tac Ops then... despite being a legitimate business in CA they obviously either don't know the law, they're criminals, or both.
