Michael Jackson -- My Dog Ate My Creditor's Claim

5/18/2010 9:48 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael JacksonA guy who worked with Michael Jackson for roughly 40 years is begging a judge to accept a creditor's claim 4 months after the deadline -- because, well, he didn't know it was due!

Richard Arons -- one of Michael's old managers -- claims MJ's estate never informed him that he needed to file a claim to continue getting the royalty checks he had been pulling in for years.

In the docs, filed Friday in L.A. County Superior Court, Arons claims by the time he learned he needed to file the paperwork, the deadline had passed ... and dude doesn't want his money well to dry up!

Now, Arons wants a second chance -- we'll see if the excuse flies with the judge.

Whitney Houston - Stars Remember Jackson In Gest Tribute

WHITNEY HOUSTON and SMOKEY ROBINSON have opened up about MICHAEL JACKSON a year after his death - for a new TV tribute created by the KING OF POP's best pal, DAVID GEST.

Gest has grilled members of the Jackson family as well as the Thriller legend's pals Robinson, Houston, Dionne Warwick and Petula Clark for his four-hour 'popumentary', The Real Michael Jackson.

The show includes an interview with Jackson's eldest sister Rebbie, who discusses the singer's alleged pill addiction, while his beloved mum Katherine pays a touching tribute to her son.

Gest explains, "I have spent the past three months travelling the world interviewing people who were most important in (Jackson's) life. I believe this popumentary will entertain and educate in equal measures about who the real Michael Jackson was. I hope this will serve as a lasting testament to the compassion and love that he had for all mankind."

The special is due for release in June (10)

If this is true that he was lawyer if would have known about there being a dead line.

How does a contract for all five of the kids made by Joe carry thru when the kids split up and go out on their own?

Wouldn't this guy's royalty checks only apply to the group as a whole? and if so, if MJ him self didn't have a contract with him how was he getting royalty checks from just MJ? I am now confused..LOL

"New York lawyer Richard Arons, who reportedly struck his deal with Joseph when the boys went east to play Harlem's Apollo Theater in May 1968. It was their first pro gig at the theater, booked by soul singer Joe Simon, who takes some credit for discovering Michael as a result—but the amateur-night audience that applauded the Jackson Five to victory in August 1967, on their first visit, deserves at least as big a share."

It seems Mr. Arons was also one of the producers of the Jacksons TV variety show back in the 70's.

Unless Arons wrote material for Michael Jackson, he isn't owed "royalties". Managers are paid commissions. Arons knew MJ had died. If he was owed any back commissions, didn't he miss the money before now, within the deadline to make a claim? When did he plan to make a claim? If his deal was with the Jackson 5, why doesn't he go after the other members of the group? (You know the answer to that.)

Just because he collected commissions for forty years doesn't mean he was entitled to them. Maybe he was just one of the more persistent leeches who attached themselves to MJ.

You ignorant *******...Michael was found innocent for child molestation...also, the only drugs in his system were the ones administered by Dr. Murray that night..also, to me dangling is holding something or somene by a limb or piece of clothing...Michael had his child held strong in his arms...why can't people comprehend things? Why is it so hard for you to accept that Michael was 1,000,000,000 times better than anyone...besides Jesus...Why is so hard to understand when everything has been put infront of you people in balck and white...MICHAEL WAS A GOOD MAN!!!!!!!
