Lindsay Lohan

Sentenced to Jail

7/6/2010 7:08 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan was just sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her probation in her DUI case, followed by a 90-day inpatient rehab program.

Judge Marsha Revel sentenced LiLo after an incredulous prosecutor, Danette Meyers, told the judge that Lohan has been thumbing her nose at the court.

The evidence was loud and clear today -- Lindsay violated probation by failing to attend her alcohol ed classes based on the schedule set by the judge.  There were lots of excuses, but ultimately they didn't fly.

The judge said there was a pattern of violations since Lindsay was placed on probation in 2007 following her plea bargain in her DUI case.

Lindsay broke down as she addressed the court, telling the judge, "I did the best I could."

Lindsay dissolved into tears when the judge imposed the sentence.

Lohan must surrender on July 20 in Judge Revel's court.

UPDATE: Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore just explained ... generally, a female inmate in  Lindsay's situation only serves 25% of their sentence ... which means LiLo will most likely spend around 23 days behind bars.

you people are disgusting! clearly, like many americans or people worldwide, she's got a problem. what the h@ll is jail going to do, nothing. this is stupid, spending tax payers money on putting people with addiction into JAIL. Over populated already. She needs rehab not jail like any other person struggling through addiction.

Get over it spoiled brat. How many chances do you think you would get?? Far more than the average non Hollywood Joe. Play and pay. those are the rules, you are no different than the rest other than you led a privileged life. Maybe this will help you get over your bad self.... Maybe save your life..

If she keeps hanging around with her hard-partying buddies and ESPECIALLY her clueless, uber-enabling Mommy, she's NEVER going to face and deal with her addictions and excesses. Of course, with parents like hers, no wonder she's got issues...

Anyway, I think they'll actually make her serve most of her sentence, or as much as the average, non-celeb serves. I really think that she's had all the breaks she's likely to get....

And once she gets out of jail, she'd better take her parole or probation more seriously this time. Because if she doesn't follow the rules to the letter and without exception, she's going BACK to jail, over and over and OVER, until she gets her act together. There's no other way out of this; either work the program and get it together, or get used to living in courtrooms and jails. Fine with me- anything to keep a repeat drunk driver off the streets....

Well, thats 25 days that she wont be on the street. From there, straight into in-patient rehab. It's better than nothing at all.

About time. I love that she has to go to jail for 90 days, BUT ALSO 90 days in a rehab. Maybe she'll actually have a chance...
