'Jersey Shore'

Cast Goes on Strike

7/18/2010 4:39 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The cast of "Jersey Shore" is so dissatisfied over their contract situation that they refused to shoot scenes for the upcoming third season until they get a better deal ... this according to sources connected with the show.

The cast was supposed to begin shooting "at home" scenes today for season three, but we're told Jwoww, Ronnie, Sammi, Pauly D and Vinny -- who are spread out between New York and Rhode Island -- told the crews they weren't shooting without new contracts.

The Situation and Snooki are supposed to shoot tomorrow, and we're told Snooki plans to do the same. No word yet on The Situation, but as we first reported ... he's having contract issues of his own.

Sources close to the show tell TMZ the cast feels they can make more money doing appearances for two months, rather than filming the show.

A rep for MTV had no comment.

Oh no, the horror of it all. Heaven forbid that MTV will have to go back to it's roots and show *gasp* Music Videos! Oh the humanity!

People will only want you to do 'appearances' for so long once you don't have a show anymore. Even if it's at a loss, I'd take the work if it was available just to extend my shelf life.

They are all a pack of cheeseballs. I hope they cancel that crappy waste of camera use. First season slightly entertaining, but lets get real. Also How can a show be called Jersey Shore, yet filmed in Miami. Should name it Greasers in SOBE

My God fire them all. Then they can go back to being nobody's acting like A-holes and gworking for minimum wages. Maybe someone in Hollywood wil grow some balls and lay down the law to these losers. If they disappear no one will care other than other losers who watch this phony reality garbage. The problem is that Hollywood gives these losers a sene of entitlement and no one stands up top them.. Guys you were nothing before and you will be nothing after yo get done acting like macho idiots hanging with your slutty girlfriends.

Idiot!

Obviously, brains were not a quality MTV was looking for, when they hired this group of loser douches & douchettes. What these brainless morons seem to have forgotten is, the show is what drives their "appearance" money. If MTV fires all of them & hires a new crew of douches & douchettes, these italian-wannabes will be like yesterday's bonnaduce; dead in the water. They should grow up, shoot the show & make their "appearances" on the side. Dumbasses!

These wannabe stars have nothing without this show. Let them strike and in 6 months we won't even remember who they are. There are a thousand others who will gladly take their places on the show. Then again..do we really need such a ridiculous reality show at all? They had their chance and they're getting greedy...drop them

Miamimimi, you would be surprised. Find the contracts for these reality show stars. You would be surprised. Many of them are BRUTALLY cheap and don't pay for anything! They don't roll out the red carpet and pay for everything. They pay for what they need to pay. What's even worse, Bravo and many other networks TAKE 10% from the appearance fees these stars make outside of the show! How greedy is that?

I think some of you need to see these horrendous contracts. If you could find them and learn how to read, you would see how terrible they are. I can understand why they went on strike. More of these reality stars should follow. I don't think they're worth Friends money, but they are not worth scraps!

Good riddance. The producers should replace all of them. While respectable New Jersey residents toil day after day in their jobs thankful to HAVE jobs, these pathetic, self-righteous, arrogant disgraces to the Italian race have the audacity to demand more money. Aren't they getting paid enough for doing nothing but degrading their own race/culture!? To the cast of Jersey Shore: PLEASE crawl back under the assorted rocks you all came from and spare the rest of us the grief of seeing your faces and your demands all over the media.

just who do they think they are!!

they should be sued if they break their contract and banned from earning money for any public appearances for the duration of the contract

guess they didn't pay attention to what happened with Jon Gosselin and TLC-they shut him right down

people will soon forget about them and their uncouth behavior-there are more of the same waiting in the wings dying to be the next one to get their 15 minutes

do they really think that there will be an enormous outcry from Americans to give them more money -the arrogance!! they should be thankful they were tolerated this long and made the $$ that they have

hope they saved most of it-but somehow I don't think they were smart enough to ever think that their gravy train would end

just me thinkin' out loud......

Best news I've heard all day. Let them wither on the vine then send them back to their kiosk jobs at the mall.

These people give Italians a bad name. They are pathetic, no class, and relatively disgusting.

Please go away.
