Lindsay Surrenders

Cuffed and Headed for Jail

7/20/2010 12:45 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan just surrendered in Judge Marsha Revel's courtroom in Bev Hils, to begin her jail sentence.

071910_lilo_court_video_2
A clearly upset LiLo sat and listened as Judge Revel ordered Lindsay's surrender.  But before Lindsay was cuffed and taken away, the judge ordered all cameras to stop rolling.

Judge Revel made it clear -- no house arrest, and no early release.  But that doesn't mean Lindsay will have to serve the full 90 days.  The Sheriff's Department will use the 90 days to compute the actual time Lindsay will have to serve, and because of overcrowding, she will only serve 25% ... 23 days.

Lindsay didn't cry.  When she was cuffed she was stoic.

0720_holley_after_courtOutside court, LiLo's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley said Lindsay had "stepped up and accepted responsibility" -- and that LiLo was as scared as anyone would be who's heading to the slammer.

Only 90 days for multiple DUI's ? That is a very light sentence, considering this selfish little twit put all of the REST of us around her at risk for death or injury repeatedly. The fact that she is (arguably) an "actor" and a "celebrity" means nothing. it could have been me, you or a family member of ours that she killed or maimed.

It's not like she couldn't afford a damn taxi - or a limo for that matter.

I don't care if she kills herself (the world would be a better place) but I DO care about all of the rest of us.

Somebody described her as "lowlife white trash" - what a totally perfect description!

Proves that money just makes one "lowlife white trash with money"

She is a danger to herself and everyone around her. I sort of hope she blows the rehab part of the order and gets some *real* prison time instead of just a cozy little lockup stint.

Good Morning Heartache

Who gives a crap. As soon as she out a jail, she's going to write a book and tell her story and make a ton of money. There are so other important things to be concerned about instead of this hollywood bull****!

Unfortunately, Lindsay's lifestyle is showing on her face. Makes me wonder what she is trying to prove. She is a beautiful young woman but she can't burn both ends of a candle forever. Life eventually catches up. Hope she wakes up in time.

Lindsay Lohan should have gotten more time, like at least a year in state prison, which also means a felony conviction on her record.

Sine that didn't happen, when Miss Lohan gets out, her probation should be extended for an indefinite period until she demonstrates that she is clean and sober. New conditions should be added such as attending Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, a 10:00 P.M. curfew, restrictions on the people she can associate with, and prohibitions on entering places where alcohol is served and events where alcohol or drugs might be present. One more restriction should also be added; Miss Lohan should not be allowed to work in the entertainment industry for the duration of the probation. She will have to seek employment elsewhere, even if it means flipping burgers at some Jack-in-the-Box.

Steven,

In large part I agree with your post, except the portion where you suggest you shouldn't be allowed to work in the entertainment industry. First off, I doubt that is legal, but even if it is, why do that to her? It serves no clear purpose and it's horribly punitive.

As irresponsible and selfish as she is, I think we have to be careful not to become overly vindictive in how we treat her. She is, after all, still a human being, albeit a loathsome one.

I was released from this jail the day she arrived....that place is horrible, its gonna change her for the better when she gets out, atleast for a little while...sadly its what she needs remind her that she's not above the law, she shouldnt get any special treatment in there though they should just let her lose with everyone else lol....(even though alot of the inmates where counting down till she got there for specific reasons haha)its not fair that she gets a slap on the wrist for a repeated offense and ppl like me get just as much jail time if not, more for a failure to appear for a ticket for forgetting to use a blinker, even though i had a completely clean record b4 that.

We can only hope this does some good. She really needs to take responsibility. ALL children of hollywood need to see this. It's what happens when they are thrown into a world that is adult. They never got to be kids and they can't handle fame, money... etc. You see bad things happening to child stars all the time. Ever watch "Where are they now" shows? There should be some kind of a mandatory class for child stars growning up in the hollywood limelight. It's not totally their fault. Nonetheless, responsiblity must be owned. Good Luck Lindsay.

It won't do any good this time around. She won't be there long enough, and she won't be uncomfortable enough. For those people who base their idea of what jail is like on TV or the movies, here is a piece of reality: she is mostly going to be bored (23.5 hrs per week in her own cell)and hungry (the food truly is horrible).

She will NOT get injured by other inmates (they will have no contact with her) or by the sheriff's deputies running the jail (they have no desire to lose their jobs or get sued).

Unless you've worked in a jail or prison (I have) or been an inmate (I haven't) you have zero idea of what things are really like.

You are right, she probably does get special meals. I think OJ and other "high power" prisoners (those with money) routinely get edible food. Even if this is not true, she can in fact buy things from the commissary, and people can send her gift packages containing food. So food won't be a big deal.

So that leaves *boredom* as the punishment. She is likely to be quite bored, and, since she probably can't read, she will likely just spend a lot of time sleeping as do many prisoners.

When she gets out, she can whine to the press about how she was "tortured." I *really* hope she blows the rehab part of this and gets to see the inside of a real prison.
