Joe Perry -- The Steven Tyler Shove Was an Accident

8/20/2010 8:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Joe Perry claims he never intended to shove Steven Tyler off of the stage during an Aerosmith concert in Toronto earlier this week ... no matter how intentional it may have looked on the video.

0820_aerosmith_video
A rep for the band tells TMZ, "Joe wanted his fans to know he would never deliberately push Steven off the stage" ... noting that Joe is a "total gentleman."

We posted the footage earlier this week -- showing Tyler playfully hip-bumping Perry ... and then Perry reacting with a hip-bump of his own ... a bump that sent Tyler flying face first into the crowd.

I love TMZ, but was really disappointed at the way they presented this story. When they reported it on TV, the guy actually said that Perry SHOVED Tyler. So not true. You guys really blew this one out of proportion. Don't let it happen again.

The problem with Joe's innocence is that he LOOKS BACK after he "hip-bumped" him, saw him fall off the stage, and then left. He didn;t try to help until he saw fans trying to help.

Makes one go HMMMMMMM?

Steven was so far bent over that if Joe Perry had sneezed on him he would have fallen over. He bumped him at the wrong time, if Steven had been standing up he would have been grounded and not fallen, end of story!!!

Why don't you post the video of Steven accidently hitting Joe over the head with his mike stand, Joe was seeing stars and walked off stage!

Bottom line, **** happens on stage when you're moving around. I guess Aerosmith should have marks made on the stage and stay put for the whole show now!!!

jenny #7 - Are you for real? Of course he's lip syncing. I would be teasily 70% of today's artists use tracks of some kind while performing.

Joe #10 - Have YOU seen Aerosmith live recently? It's like watching Permanent Vacation Aerosmith again. High energy, lots of fun, awesome show. And I'm not a huge Aerosmith fan.

Aerosmith is and will ever be one of the best American rock and roll acts of all time. Steve Tyler lip-syncing is a crock of bull. Jenny you are so way off base its almost comical. Tmz definitely got this one wrong.

The truth is, Steven's getting a little old, like the rest of us, and is not as fast on his feet. I wish I could sing, perform and entertain like that when I get to his age!

I call bull**** that it was an "accident". If you watch the video you can see that Perry is not being playful. It's in his body language. At the exact moment it happened, Perry was walking back towards the stage and purposely put his body in place to knock Tyler over.

If it truly was an accident he wouldn't have kept walking. He would have been all "Oh ****..LET ME HELP YOU GET BACK ON STAGE" but he didn't.

Is it a done deal that Steven is gonna be a judge on A-Idol.
In my opinion though Steven is great Ozzy would have been more fun to see as a judge another good combo (Britney,Ozzie,Tracy-Ullman)or (Britney,Ozzie,Mario-Cantone) + suprise guest every week.
