Morphin' Producer -- Blue Ranger Was 'Pain in the Ass'

8/28/2010 4:35 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

A guy who co-produced 450 episodes of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" claims he's positive the Blue Ranger didn't leave the show over homophobia on the set -- insisting the departure was all about money ... but the thing he remembers most was that Blue was a "pain in the ass."

As we previously reported, former Blue Ranger David Yost just revealed he is gay -- and claimed he was forced to quit MMPR back in the day because he "was called 'f*ggot' one too many times" by staffers.

But producer Scott Page-Pagter explains, "[Yost] and two of the other actors were all getting a bonus on top of their salary.  When the other two left the show, production wanted to stop giving him the bonus, and that’s ultimately what led to his departure from the show.”

As for the allegations of homophobia, Page-Pagter told us, “I don’t know why he’s saying this, but he was the only one no one got along with ... he was a pain in the ass.”

Saban Entertainment -- the company behind the show -- had no official comment.

No.9. Get real. Animals don't choose to live in the wilderness, dig dens, run in herds, hybernate, or or eat only meat or grass. That's because God gave them instinct to do these things. Man, on the other hand, have to ability to choose. God gave him free will to decide just how he want's to live his life. Whether it's to come towards him or go the other way. So don't hand me this "He didn't choose" crap. He did. Unlike animals in the wild, he has options.

look at it this way in the 90's elen degenerace came out and she lost everything her show any chance of someone else picking her up for a show things where real ****ed up back then only thing is she recovered from the years of hate, so to have them not just **** yost over money wise by giving Auston the job of the gold ranger on Zeo and downgrade him to zordans little helper it was like saban saying well if we fire him he will take us to court so we will make him quit and I think they did great job of it if I do say so myself what would he have to gain saying this now? its not like Nick is going to pull the show before it starts up again in 2011 its all about what sells, one last thing if you know how to read if people are giving false information, he was not showing signs of that and even at times it was like he was embarrassed which can be a sign of truth. I have lost quite a bit of respect for Saban Group for this

Well I guess this producer who seems to remember it correctly couldn't remember that it was 3 of the cast members that left the show, Thuy Trang, Walter Jones, and Austin St.John. David Yost, Amy Jo Johnson and Jason David Frank stayed on for the next couple seasons until Amy left, then David left the following year. Saying how the cast had a hard time with him is a load of ****! They all said he was a nice guy and how he had a hard time with Thuy's death since they were close friends. Even when David was discussed at the recent Power Ranger convention. The cast who was there from the original series had nothing but nice things to say. The only one that some of the Power Ranger cast had problems with was Jason David Frank (Tommy) Cause he would do pranks on them. Of course the later seasons PR: Dino Thunder where the cast just hated him cause he was a prima donna on the set and complained about how he didn't had all these lines. But again, this "producer" is just lying about it cause he doesn't want to be called a homophobe!

What type of affect will cause the reboot of Power Rangers on Nickelodon

Animals live by instinct. Period. Humans get to make decisions based on a plethora of things. This guy made a decision to go gay. Period. No one held a gun to his head, pulled a knife on him or told him they'd kill his family if he didn't go gay. He could just as easily gone with women. Gay people do it every day, the sick bastards.

werent several of the actors gay? as for the low wages the actor knew what they were signing up for when they signed their contracts. finally most of the time a bonus is not manditory unless its in writing.

I agree: being gay is a choice.
Marlon Brando said:
“Homosexuality is so much in fashion it no longer makes news. Like a large number of men, I, too, have had homosexual experiences and I am not ashamed. I have never paid much attention to what people think about me.” Marlon Brando 1976

If God exists, he didn't give gays the right to choose. Just like he doesn't give schizophrenics the right to choose to be schizophrenic. And those with deformities to have deformities

If you believe that all (or even most) gays choose to be gay, then you're truly an uneducated idiot.

I guess it's easier to believe stupid things when you're a homophobe.

First off, people need to watch the ENTIRE interview on YouTube under NoPinkSpandex before coming to any sort of conclusions based off of a self-serving newsrag like TMZ. They obviously only want to stir up more hype.

Secondly, Austin St. John, the late Thuy Trang and Walter Jones left after being given some bad advice to make them think they had enough clout to ask for more money. They didn't and met with a Peace Conference. Amy Jo left to persue bigger ventures and has been successful for the most part. Austin St. John came back AFTER David Yost had been made more of a tech assist in the Power Chamber when Zeo started.

Third, if you do like I said in the first place, you'll understand that it took years for David to accept himself, which is the first thing anyone, gay, straight, or bi, has to do before they can be truly happy. There is no time limit for it and if you were deeply affected by something, it could take you years to be able to talk about it. By watching the entire interview, it's 6 or 7 parts on YouTube, you'll truly get a better understanding of the whole situation.

And lastly, David is a producer now and is happy working behind the camera. He didn't come out to try and restart anything. So before you go off and make conclusions based on only partial information, watch the entire interview first and then if you still want to make those same kind of conclusions, then so be it. I just hope nothing ever occurs in your life that affects you so badly that it takes you years to recover from it, if you ever do.

Oh, and David never said the CAST were the ones making the comments. He said the crew and some of the producers. So take that how you want it.
