'Skins' -- Parents Org. Wants Kiddy Porn Investigation

1/20/2011 3:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The sex-obsessed, drug-heavy MTV show "Skins" is under fire from a very powerful parents org. that's now calling for a federal investigation into potential child pornography violations ... TMZ has learned.

MTV Skins PTC

The Parents Television Council has fired off a letter to the U.S Department of Justice AND the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees ... over concerns the show uses underage actors in graphic sexual situations.

The organization explains, "In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode."

The group adds, "It is clear that Viacom has knowingly produced material that may well be in violation of [several anti-child pornography laws].

Earlier this week, the New York Times reported that MTV execs have already met to discuss the issue.

So far, no comment from MTV.

Sorry to break it to you, I'm 20 and I did this stuff when I was 15/16 and so did many people I know. Our parents never knew. Oh and your kids shouldn't be watching this program because it's rated TV MA so if kids are watching, it's called being a better parent and setting parental blocks on your TV's. But either way your kids will end up doing some of the things they do in this show.

Alright parents, time to wake up. It wasnt that long ago that I was a teenager, I'm 26 now and when I was 16 I was doing the same thing. Not all teenagers are like that, but I appeared to be a saintly teenager as well once upon a time and I was doing drugs and partying very much like the teenagers in this show. My parents were oblivious. How about you parents that are complaining take the time out to monitor what your children watch, so that people who do enjoy these shows can still enjoy them. Stop being lazy parents. The parents that are complaining are probably the ones whose kids are out doing the same things, they are just too blind to see it. So tired of parents censoring whats on television because they are too lazy to actually be proactive in their teenagers/kids lives. Don't like it? Don't watch it, problem solved. Truth is this show is a heck of a more reality for youth than Icarly or any other disney show out there.

MTV really needs to change their name to CTV. Crap television. Their shows rarely have anything to do with music these days. As for this new piece of garbage that they spew out to the younger generation, WTF. Shows like this will only teach young kids who aren't fully baked how to become immoral and uselees people. I know I'm a bit older than a lot of the posters on this site, (over twenty five), but there is a right way and a wrong way to lead your life, and watching this crap will only warp your brains.

Your welcome.

The reactions here are unbelievable, especially for the land of the free with so much pride in its freedom of speech (not a bad thing!)
When the original series was on over here pretty much everyone at my school who was at a similar age to the characters portrayed watched it. However, incredibly, we're able to distinguish fact and fiction, and at this age feel the need to copy stuff we see on that. Sure I know people like that, but it certainly wouldn't and didn't take a show like "Skins" to put them in that direction.

"I don't have to have it forced on me" exactly, you don't, just ignore it, it's not like they'll show adverts for it on kids TV, or really much outside programs its target audience might watch. Before you read this article had you heard about show, or are you like so many others only making a fuss when you read that you're supposed to be outraged?
"The U.S. needs to stop letting shows from Europe here" You make a good point, it's probably best if you stick with your sanitised bubble of TV.

*don't feel the need...

by the way guys, they don't actually have sex and do drugs, at least when they're being filmed. It's what's called a fictional story.

Besides kids are already doing these things, and its not because they are watching it on television or in movies. We did those things because human beings are curious and sexual in nature. I have three kids of my own and If I dont want them to see something, its easy, I turn off the television. Its called parenting. You can censor what your kids watch all you want, but when the time comes their peers are more influential than anything they could ever read in a book or watch on television. Parents are lazy now and want something to blame. Here's an idea, talk to your kids, educate them, and love them! That's more beneficial than censoring what they see on television.

Judging by the commercials I've seen, the show is completely inappropriate and shouldn't be on a network targeted towards teens. The behavior depicted in the ads made me angry and I couldn't believe they're putting that kind of trash in front of young people. MTV just keeps sinking to new depths.

I haven't actually seen the show, but come friggen on. It's a FICTIONAL program, it's not meant to be a blueprint for teens to live their lives by. If your kids are stupid enough to want to duplicate everything they see on TV then I think the problem is the parenting, not the programing.

Parenting is the problem parents have given up
most let their kids do as they like,
those that try and teach their children right from wrong
have to worry about the cops or child services being called on them and im not talking about a beating not even a slap on the but
you can get cps on your case for raising your voice
sometimes you need to yell to get the kids attention.

i find it absolutely hilarious that people are taking this show so seriously. it's called a teen drama for a reason. it's dramatic and fictional. sure there are some kids that will do idiotic and illegal things, but just because your kid might watch, it doesn't mean that he/she will.

through all the sex and drugs, the main point of this show is friendship and if you watch it with an open mind, you'll understand this. not a fan of MTV or it's programming? block it from your television. it's not fair to the rest of the open minded country to shove your closeted morals down their throats.

i'm an 18 year old who watches Skins religiously. i do not drink, do drugs, or have promiscuous sex with random people. i've been a fan since 2008 and it hasn't altered my mind in any way. if anything, it's made me more mature.

UK skins is far more offensive, they toned it down a lot and it shows because US skins sucks, it's basically a replica but stripped of the good. All in all MTV needs to play more music videos and move away from human reproduction via freak teens (16 pregnant) and i do believe U.S. teens will follow what these teens on the show are doing, kids today are like following zombies.

Conservatives are Cowards

People that belong to these organizations that promote irresponsible parenting, expecting the government to make up for their shortfalls as parents, should be put under investigation, as it is indicated that these people lack the intelligence and skills to properly raise children.

If you're such a bad parent you can't monitor what your kids are watching on t.v. in your own house, I can only imagine what kind of liabilities your spawn are on society when they are outside the scope of your lacking supervision.

I'm not kidding: Anyone who admits that they're such a bad parent that others need to cater to their shortfalls really should not have kids. The state should step in and take their kids away to give the kids a shot at a semi-successful life (obviously taking into consideration the gene pool from which these kids unfortunately came).

These bad parents should do their part to help society and not have kids.

I wouldn't recommend this show for my 13 year old but I watched it and liked it. It came on with a warning and at 10pm. My kids were in bed. I was fine with it. I don't allow him to watch Jersey Shore either which I also watch. People are too uptight!!!! BTW just off topic...I do let him watch Teen Mom, which really encourages him NOT TO HAVE A BABY.
