'Skins' -- Parents Org. Wants Kiddy Porn Investigation

1/20/2011 3:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The sex-obsessed, drug-heavy MTV show "Skins" is under fire from a very powerful parents org. that's now calling for a federal investigation into potential child pornography violations ... TMZ has learned.

MTV Skins PTC

The Parents Television Council has fired off a letter to the U.S Department of Justice AND the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees ... over concerns the show uses underage actors in graphic sexual situations.

The organization explains, "In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode."

The group adds, "It is clear that Viacom has knowingly produced material that may well be in violation of [several anti-child pornography laws].

Earlier this week, the New York Times reported that MTV execs have already met to discuss the issue.

So far, no comment from MTV.

this show is a remake of a british teen drama, that is available to watch via netflix's live stream. considering the time of night they show this show, it really isn't that bad in my opinion. it could be worse ha. if you don't like it then don't watch it, or don't let your kids watch it. slap on that parental block.

i dont see whats the big deal is. i mean parents are shockd that this is going on? i mean come on. i bet that the parents dont even know that their own kids are doing the samething. being in this day in age kid are doing thinngs like that and to be shockd about this just goes to show that they truly dont know what is going on in their own kids lives. because as a fellow teen ive seen things just like that in real live and this was even before the whole reality tv stuff was so big. and to all the other stuff they are saying about mtv and there whole thing with teens they are just showing a really bright light on the life of teens. if you dont like it than tell the teens not mtv

Even worse are the parents who let their kids be on a show like this.

I watched the first 2 seasons of the original on bbc America. Yes there's sex and drugs, but often the crazy sex and drugs lead to problems. The program actually shows that this kind of behavior has some bad repercussions. People they care about break up with them, they have problems in school, have major rifts with friends.. it's a little extreme, but it's television! If it wasn't sansationalized, it wouldn't be interesting. And teenagers often do have sex and experiment with drugs. I think the show actually depicts the danger of doing these things. It seems like fun at first, but eventually each character has a problem based on their behavior regarding sex and/or drugs.

The ad for this show ALONE is enough to sow irresponsible MTV is being. Depicting kids of any age doing the illegal and immoral crap that they show is just enticing younger and younger kids to think "hey...they're doing it...why shouldn't I?" and if you think kids are smarter than that? THINK AGAIN!

MTV is producing nothing but trash shows and they should be ashamed of themselves.

All for the almighty dollar.

Its parents job to teach kids the values and morals they want to bring to the world. Stop bashing TV for all the ways it can corrupt your kids and do a better job teaching them that what they see on TV is NOT what they should do or how they should lead their lives. I love this show, had no idea it was MTV because I wouldn't watch that channel if I had it. Besides, it is a British show, and the legal age of drinking and I am sure other things is much younger than the us. Maybe they are adults at 16 and not 18? Mind your own children and you will be fine. Relax!

They better prosecute, or there's an unacceptable double standard going on.

Ordinary citizens are regularly hauled before prosecutors for having legal nudist materials or because a Wal-Mart photo lab person decided their photos of their kids in the tub was child porn.

But these producers knowingly PRODUCED this. If there's no hard jail time and sex offender registry for them, there's no justice. There's two different legal systems, for the rich and powerful, and for everyone else.

The justice department needs to raid and take all the uncut footage for review, or we'll know where they stand.

I do believe this is being shot in England, where laws are different....

That said, it's still trash.

I'm 25 and I watched the show and I love it. You parents need to realize that your kids are doing this kind of stuff. When I was teenager I was doing the same things. If you don't like it don't watch it simple as that.

Last comment last time I looked acting or simulating intimacy was not breaking the law, look at child actors like Fanning Dakota. The level of tatse doesnt dictate whether its a crime or not, the law doesn. No one is having sex and if MTV were smart they will have actors of legal age, who look young. Dont ya'all remember 90210 having twenty/thirty/one forty year old playing teens! Jeez people calm the hell down. The end.
