Taco Bell Pulls Ads from 'Skins' -- Too Spicy

1/20/2011 5:45 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Taco Bell wants nothing to do with MTV's risque new teen show "Skins" -- and have pulled their ads from the program after a parental group expressed concern about potential child porn violations.

A rep for TB tells The Hollywood Reporter, "Upon further review, we’ve decided that the show is not a fit for our brand and have moved our advertising to other MTV programming."

As we first reported, the Parents Television Council fired off a letter to the U.S Department of Justice AND the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees -- over concerns the show uses underage actors in graphic sexual situations ... possibly violating anti-child porn laws.

Makes me love Taco Bell even more! I hope more companies follows suit. I keep hearing teenagers and promoters of the show saying "it's realistic, real life, etc. Someone above said, some of you must have grew up in a sheltered home". I KNOW IT'S REALISTIC! That's not the point! Just because something is realistic does not mean it's acceptable! There are also 2 and 3 year olds being sexually abused every day, should we make a show graphically depicting this? And no, that's not a suggestion for a new show!

Another step toward the downfall of our society! MTV is horrible, and it is PERMANENTLY BLOCKED from my daughter's viewing choices.

Congrats to Taco Bell on their positive choice!!!! The rest of you need to GROW SOME MORALS & VALUES!!!!

Welcome to the year 2011 people. Just a reminder...things don't run the way they did in the 40's, 50's etc.

If you don't like it...DON'T WATCH IT.

I find it amazing how most ppl like to blame celebrities or televisions shows for the terrible actions their kids make. NO! you are to blame.. How can something that comes on once a week and take up an hour of your children's time influence them? Stop looking for other ppl to blame for the horrible state that your country is in and look at the home base. If you don't want your child to watch the show then don't let them but stop trying to influence what other ppl can and cannot watch... as for TB they food tastes like shiz anyway last I can recall! Long live freedom of choice!

To be honest, most of the people who watch Skins US have already watched the original the British Skins which isn't censored and uses young actors. When the British Skins first showed, there was not this much of a noise made about it. When Skins made the news, more people will become curious and watch it (common sense really).
Pretending these things that happen on Skins don't happen in real life is not going to make it magically go away!! It just make me glad that I live in a country where this much unnecessary fuss is not made about a TV SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait wait wait ... Taco Bell doesn't want it's Ads to reach stoned teenagers?

Also, I love how many moral holy rollers there are out here who want to impede on everyone's free speech. If you don't like it change the channel. If you don't want your children watching it, get off your ass and quit filling yourself with antidepressants and raise your damn children.

I consider myself an atheist, yet I still have morals and values. Stop making this a Christian bible beater argument. There are shows on MTV that I really enjoy, but with SKINS, MTV is showing complete disregard towards social responsibility.

Our pre-teens and teens don't need to be subject to this crap and you can't expect parents to be able to control every minute of their child's TV watching experiences.

I coach 4th-8th graders and they started talking about how "awesome" and "so real" this show was the other night. It's so sad to think that these kids expect and look forward to their high school experience playing out like SKINS.

The show would be better suited for HBO or Showtime where they don't have to bleep out all the words. The UK version is much better.

Taco Bell was THE place to go in high school and college when we were stoned. LOL!!!

Well, it sounds like they are portraying illegal behavior, and sponsors don't like to be associated with supporting such things. The kids are underage, if they were like the Glee cast and over 18, then this wouldn't be as big of an issue as it is. Tons of sponsors didn't pull out of Glee. Subway, Taco Bell, etc probably just think the show is pulling such low ratings that it's not worth it anyway.

(It may be different in other countries - but 18 is pretty much the standard for consent.)
