“I married for the wrong reasons,” he explained. “I was turning 30, and I thought it would give my image some maturity.” The marriage lasted barely six months. Shortly thereafter, he was arrested for assaulting a new girlfriend and pleaded no contest. He was placed on two years’ probation in 1997.
At a news conference, Martin Sheen, aghast at the disarray of his son’s life, entreated the public: “Pray for my boy.”Yet, despite Charlie Sheen’s addictions and public ignominy, movie producers continued to hire him. He averaged three films a year before he finally came crashing down in an overdose of cocaine in 1998. “I was no longer in control,” he admitted. “I was abusing myself with no end in sight. My body was shutting down. My brain was addled. I felt such despair, such absolute hopelessness. I couldn’t get high, and I couldn’t get sober. I had hit bottom, and I was stuck. “I was alone one night,” he continued. “I wanted to get really high, and I needed more and more cocaine to do it. I thought shooting cocaine would be a good idea. I’d never shot it before, so I had no idea what I was doing. The first dose didn’t work. I shot a second one. That was too much. My legs started to give way. Everything felt wrong. I was scared. A cocaine death is a very panicked one—clutching your chest, fighting for breath. I knew I was dying.”
His bodyguard found him, and Sheen was rushed to Los Robles Regional Medical Center. “I recovered at the hospital,” he said, “and I was sent to Promises.” Promises Malibu is a private, residential drug-treatment facility in the Santa Monica Mountains. “My denial was so strong,” recalled Sheen, “that I walked out of there the first night. When my dad heard, he went straight to the district attorney. He said, ‘Here’s where my son is at. Let’s go get him.’”Sheen’s drug use violated conditions of his 1997 parole, and an arrest warrant was issued. He was given a choice: confinement in a drug-rehab facility or jail. Sheen chose to return to Promises. This time, he wore a mandatory electronic ankle cuff. “Promises is hallowed ground to me,” he said gently. “It’s where my life changed forever. It was an awakening. I knew it was the end of the line—that party’s over. I was there six months. When I got out, I knew it was ‘stay sober or jail.’ That’s why it worked. “I was really angry at my dad at first. That’s how defiant I was, how strong addiction is. After a while, I realized how crafty Dad had been. He had used the law, the one thing I could not escape. He’d risked a lot because he loved me.”Sober for a year, Sheen reconciled with his brother Emilio in 2000. They had barely spoken in the last nine years...

Just wondering if Charlie has any friends left? He will definitely die and I give it less than one year if something isn't done. He obviously can't control what is happening. He is not that young - actually he's probably a good candidate for heart failure. This chick obviously is raised a few blocks below the street line. Very pretty - but most definitely white trash. This is all going to end very badly...God I hope that meathead Sheen doesn't drive.

The one thing that most people need to live their lives without worry is money and you have that. So just live your life and get rid of the Hollywood hype and the shyte that bothers you. I'm sure you are aware that the ancient Romans had a slave in the chariot of the triumphant general as he made his way through he throng whispering in his ear "remember that you are a man" . They did this because they knew that when you start to believe the hype, you're lost.
This is not Rome nor are you a general but that 1.7 or so million an episode is the crowd and control the hype that comes with it in your mind before it destroys you.
The whores and dealers that you are entertaining now will move on to the next victim when you are gone. You're nothing to them so paying them for their nefarious company is just like the crack you're smoking, short and sweet but soon gone. Maybe that's what you want.
Very selfish and a hell of a legacy to leave to kids is a parent or parents who commits suicide, deliberately or otherwise.

Excellent post and true....those whores and drug dealers do not give a damn about him at all..just his money. You know that Emilio and Martin have been promoting THE WAY movie at film festivals...looks like a very moving movie and then the two writing a book together about their spiritual journey to the book. Then on the other hand, you have Charlie who seems estranged from his family. Dad has to come back from an uplifting tour, Emilio is doing great things with his life and the family has to focus on the one acting out. I hope that Martin can talk some sense into his son. I think the cast of 2.5 men must really be tired of this drama: they have families to support as well.

@242 Charlie has PLENTY of friends left...that he pays and are enabling him.. IE CBS President, 21/2 men producer, director, all of his fellow actors, his agent, his PR person and his 2 ex wives. Until these people as a collective unit say they aren't his friends anymore Charlie is done. This is watching enabling at the VIP level take place.
