Chris Brown -- Hearing Had Zero to Do with Grammys

1/29/2011 8:44 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Chris Brown is not attending this year's Grammy Awards -- so the idea that he was in court yesterday to try and have the restraining order against him reduced just so he could go (and not risk running into Rihanna) is way off base ... this according to his rep.

Chris Brown Grammy Awards
As part of the Rihanna assault case, Brown's attorney asked the judge yesterday to reduce the "stay away" order against him to a "do not annoy" order. Doing so would have removed the part about Brown having to stay 50 yards away from RiRi.

Ultimately, while the judge again praised Brown for his progress, the ruling was put off until a later date because an attorney for Rihanna could not be reached.

As for the idea that this hearing has anything to do with Brown going to the Grammys ... Tammy Brook, a rep for Brown, tells TMZ, "This court date and the lifting of the restraining order is part of the planned ongoing legal proceedings. The date was scheduled months ago. Chris Brown is very thankful for his Grammy nominations, but due to scheduling conflicts, he will not be attending the Grammys."

I'm not going to start anything, but I will say this. All the people that are dragging Chris better not pick their judgemental asses up off the computer, and go watch Two And A Half Men.....hypocrites...

I hate that people are trying to forgive him too fast. Just wait, he'll do it again to another girl and then, hopefully, you stupid Brown supporters will feel shocked and betrayed.

I agree that Charlie Sheen is a pampered actor who should have been forced into rehab by his show's producers, but they didn't want to lose their cash cow, no matter how near-death his life has become. That show is #1 in the ratings, so they look the other way. As far as Chris Brown goes, it's a shame he can't attend the Grammy's, what with all his nominations. I was looking forward to watching him whine and cry, if he didn't win.

90% of the comments posted here...PURE IGNORANCE and HATE. It's so sad...I will pray that ya'll experience happiness ASAP, because the hatred and mocking and idiocy is disgusting, truly. You really think reminding a person of what they did is going to help them be a better person? If you do you are sadly mistaken. Try looking in the mirror, don't act as if you have never done anything wrong. Because you have...It's always the one who are unhappy and cold and unforgiving, that are always pointing the fingers...SHAME on you, because you are not perfect either. And I agree with the Charlie Sheen comments, people always seem to ignore that....hmmm I wonder WHY?????? >:( If you gone bash someone, acknowledge yours and others faults who have practically gotten away with murder...Don't throw stones at one person at fault and not the other who is doing the same thing.

Glad he's completed his completed his domestic violence training. Is he planning to celebrate by kicking Rihanna's teeth down her throat. There's nothing more manly than beating up a woman.

...TT...don't you just wonder how a #1 male pop artist can have the GULL to beat the #1 female pop artist ( at the time) and think it would be so easy to forget, he is stupid and has issues...and yes..so does the rich tv actor who hits his wife and indulges in porn stars and massive addiction issues..its just sad that peeps who somehow got into dream postions within their industries would be so messed up, nothing new though, been happening for decades, its really just the internet age I suppose.

Who cares who wins or loses the Grammy's? The same group of people always get nominated as if everything that is music is defined by what some bland radio artists make. There are many, many incredible artists in America who perform in every genre who could easily destroy every current grammy nominee when it comes to talent and message... You will not see them, rather Kesha will probably get a nomination and Bieber will get a movie deal about his life... because it is important for us to care about these goons. Also Chris Brown gets more flak for what he does to women because he did not just beat any woman's face into his dashboard, he beat an equally famous woman's face. That's why he gets more flak, its not fair at all but that's how the world works. Kind of like why people care about these garbage bag celebrities as opposed to real, meaningful music that surrounds us in this country. It's just unfair.

His "press" release is a out right lie trying to make him look good despite his actions. He is trying to go to the Grammys. There is no reason, if someone has rebuilt their ability to hand anger, would seek to open up a issue witht he person who they had made into a reason to be through the court to feel in danger in any way. So this is about going to a award show. I myself feel extremly disappointed in the gammmys giving a award to someone like him in the first place. I know people who do good should be rewarded. But to give a award to someone who shows no moral code is wrong. Thats why you never hear of F the police win a gramy for best metal rap song.
