I can't believe that TMZ found this lady and did not ask her how much she was paid for the necklace by the store. She made it and sold it to the store so the only time that necklace has changed hands for money was this transaction. The price she was paid is the fair market value and thus rules whether the theft was a felony or a misdemeanor.

I think this was her polite way of telling TMZ to sod off, hence the "I'm so far removed" comment.

Jesus H, do you not no how retail works? There's the person who makes it, they sell it at a mark up to the retailer so that they get some profit to cover their overheads.
The retailer THEN sells it at a mark up to the customer to cover THEIR overheads (rent on property, staff wages, electric et all AIN'T free). THAT is the fair market value but it's got to be compared with something equal not some knock off that Joe Bloggs down the road makes.
If she had sold it (or had it stolen) directly by Lindsay Lohan you'd have a point.
I used to work for Wrigley's, Kenwood and Sodastream. Do you think when stuff is stolen from shops that sell those products the 'fair market value' is what that shop paid to them? I'll give you a clue...we paid half price (off retail not what it actually cost to make and I did the costing so I know) for working there if we wanted their stuff. We did not charge half price to the retailers (there would be no profit) and they certainly didn't just charge what we asked of them.

So it's okay for American trash to steal it? So the next time your shop is stolen from if it's an American you're going to say "oh, that's okay" but if it's a foreigner (and how do YOU know they don't have residency?) you'll be "God damn foreigner, throw the book at them!!!!"

Hmmm... I did a little research. The designer of the necklace is Pratima Sethi. Her line is known as Sethi Couture. She sells throughout the country (and has her own website sethicouture.com). I found a very similar necklace made by her at a shop in Texas. Guess what they are selling it for??? $2409!!!
