Paula Abdul made a frantic and tearful 911 call during a Valentine's Day drive with a boyfriend -- repeatedly screaming, "Drop me off!" ... and TMZ has obtained the recording.
During the call -- placed at 4:35 PM on Valentine's Day -- Paula cries and sobs hysterically and says, "I wanna go, and he won't let me!"
Seconds later Paula says, "Are you gonna drop me off 'cause I have emergency on the phone" -- and shortly after that she says, "He's dropping me off."
Officers got in touch with Paula about an hour later and she said it was just a verbal dispute.
We're told Paula and the guy were driving near Santa Barbara when the epic argument erupted. Cops went to her house that night and found she was fine. Paula did not want to file a police report.
A spokesperson for Abdul tells TMZ, "Arguments with loved ones are often times heated. After the call was made everything was worked out."

What the hell was going on? She wanted someone to pull over and drop her off on the sidewalk somewhere in Santa Barbara? WTF?
This is a very familiar sound. I had a CRAZY ex-girlfriend who was over-the-top emotional AND wasted one night as we drove home from a club. She was shouting about pulling over and letting her out ON THE FREEWAY! Which wasn't going to happen--you ignore crazy drunk requests when you're the sober one driving them safely home, argument or not. Paula is super wasted and over emotional in this call--obviously, he took her home, and thankfully, did not kick her to the curb on the freeway at night! What a drama queen.
P.S. According to a former, long-time personal employee of Paula's she's a very sweet, but EXTREMELY lonely and socially awkward woman, quite literally the kind of woman who hits on delivery guys and handy men who come around. It's long been thought she's addicted to something...but more likely she's bi-polar, and her medication is what makes her a little off-ish.
