Charlie Sheen to Warner Bros: I Want a Public Trial!

3/23/2011 1:55 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen thinks the deck is stacked against him in his holy war with Warner Bros. over "Two and a Half Men," and he wants a public trial, not a closed-door arbitration.

Charlie Sheen Trial

Charlie -- who was fired by Warner Bros. and is suing the company for $100,000,000 -- claims Warner Bros. is trying to force the case into private arbitration because the judges who preside over these arbitrations do lots of business with Warner Bros.

So Charlie has filed legal papers, asking for a public trial in a public courthouse.

When? My guess is that (1) assuming that he is experiencing mania and (2) does sometime experience a crash/depression that he will (3) resume self-medicating aka drug abusing. That's when he is likely to OD.

That pattern may in fact already be in play with his previous OD's. So far he has been lucky, largely because his family stepped in when he OD'd. Now he has evidently completely pushed them away so he may not be so lucky the next time.

P.S. and btw, episodes of mania can last for weeks, months, or sometimes even years - depending on the form of cyclical bipolar and/or type of mania involved. Likewise, the depression can last that long or longer - which it usually does - last longer than the mania that is.

However, just as depression can be unipolar so can mania. In other words, mania can exist without any corresponding depression.

At any rate, my point is not to hold breath waiting for Charlie to snap out of it, OD, or whatever. Could potentially be a long wait.

How about you stop juding and diagnosing, because you have no credentials and you have never met the guy, and start reading between the lines? What you cal MANIA, is nothing but apparently GENIOUS marketing strategy. The guy was fired, and now he wants to 1. get even, and 2. get some money out of the whole mess.

As for WB requesting a medical certification of some sort...if there was nothing of a kind written in his contract, they had no right to request it, and since we're talking about things that the parties were obliged to do...wasn't Chuck obliged to write the damn scripts and be ready to shoot starting Feb 14th? He was, and yet he refused.

Sure! You can have your public trial if YOU'RE paying for it! I don't want to pay for that with my tax dollars! The nerve!

Well, of course he wants it public. He can't grandstand without an audience.

Sheen did not expect to get fired. Sheen alone screwed this up.

People, If you think WB did not go over every single word in Sheens contract you are mistaken.

Sheen is fighting with the major big boys. They got fed up with all his crap and trouble he got into and finially had enough.

Charlie Sheen is not the boss. Sheen messed up the best gig on TV and he knows it. No one else to blame.

You don't indicate who you are addressing your remarks to. However, since my recent posts used the word mania I will assume that you are addressing me and respond.

First of all, if you will carefully reread my posts, you may see for yourself that I am not diagnosing anyone. I simply gave generic information about various disorders and said that if we ~assume~ that they do apply...an "if, then, else" sort of statement.

Secondly, you are assuming that I don't have the credentials to make a diagnosis - given a situation where all the relevant data is available. I can assure you that I do.

Last but not least, this situation reminds me of a clinicians' inside joke that is a favorite of mine. It goes - "Even paranoids have enemies".

Even people suffering with mental disorders of various sorts can have actual genius - moments of genius or persistent genius. HIgh IQ and giftedness can and does co-occur with MANY mental health disorders and/or learning disabilities. Artistic creativity and bipolar disorder have such a high rate of co-occurance that its nearly cliche in some circles.

As far as the contractual aspects go, I believe that the obligation is on the actor to negotiate a contract that prohibits such matters as work related medical evaluation. Given that the entertainment industry tends to prefer to insure their assets, and that the insurance industry tends to insist upon medical evaluation before issuing a policy, I would imagine that Charlie's negotiations did not include such stipulation. At any rate, I have not seen or heard Charlie claiming such stipulation in his contract, even in his legal rebuttal to the termination.

Raymond-

Your right. This can go to civil court. That's Sheens right.

Public loves him and that's one of the things WB is afraid of.
And I agree that since so many around here are so damn sure that he is to blame for it all, they shouldn't want arbitration. They should want public trial to expose the bad bad Charlie. LOL!

It has already been denied and will be going to arbitration.

Matt-

Yeah, that's where it belongs. Anyone can file doesn't mean it won't get denied. This is civil not criminal and would be a waste of the courts time and taxpayers money.

If it's denied, Sheen lost that round.
