Kirk Cameron

Stephen Hawking is WRONG!!!!!

5/18/2011 4:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Super Christian Kirk Cameron says Stephen Hawking is WRONG about the non-existence of Heaven -- insisting Hawking is just as ignorant as ... (wait for it) ... John Lennon.

Kirk -- who is HUGELY active in his evangelist church -- tells TMZ Hawking has no scientific evidence to back his claim that Heaven is merely a, "Fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

Cameron tells us, "Professor Hawking is heralded as 'the genius of Britain,' yet he believes in the scientific impossibility that nothing created everything and that life sprang from non-life."

He adds, "Why should anyone believe Mr. Hawking's writings if he cannot provide evidence for his unscientific belief that out of nothing, everything came?"

So how does John Lennon fit in to all this? Cameron explains:

"[Hawking] says he knows there is no Heaven. John Lennon wasn't sure. He said to pretend there's no Heaven. That's easy if you try.  Then he said he hoped that someday we would join him."

"Such wishful thinking reveals John and Stephen's religious beliefs, not good science."

So there you have it ... Stephen Hawking and a Beatle connected through Mike Seaver.

It's kind of funny how Mike Seaver wants Hawking to prove what he said is true, while never offering to prove that God exists or that there is a heaven.
Maybe Kirk should try to prove something easy: how would the Jesus of the new testament feel about the Christian Right's campaign against Gays, women and the poor? Maybe just one, where does jesus say take from the poor and give to the rich?

As some people are stating above, Jesus did exist historically. The mysticism and son of God thing, never proven. There's no proof he was risen, no proof he healed anyone or did anything else. He was a well followed philosopher with good PR. He was a good guy, much like Buddah, and helped people in times of need, just not magically.
Science does exist, faith is just faith. Spouting faith as truth is absurd. Its interesting all those spouting their belief, but when one scientist says his opinion you fly off the handle and tell him wrong. He's as wrong as you are in that context.
Hawkins has proven so much more, so his credibility over Cameron is renown. So score for Hawkins, his intelligence gives him the one up.

Cameron is an idiot. The only ones who claim to have absolute truth are those people believing in an unprovable supernatural being. Science is about "we don't know this, so we are going to see if we can't figure it out" - science hasn't said everything was created by the big bang, they've said they can't trace it back further - YET - new research has indicated that some black holes may have survived from earlier universes.

And btw, who created God?

Religions and Sports are very important to society. They provide the common framework that provides stability to society. That said, I do believe most of what Stephen has put forth in his books.

Maybe now we can turn the beautiful shrines into useful housing for the recently evicted or the long suffering homeless. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to connect the real DOTS.

Oh, Kirk Cameron. I liked you a whole lot better before you went all Jesus-y on us. Your claim that "science believes something was created from nothing" is laughably inaccurate. The big 'ole "leap" that you're describing there is something science is not afforded ... only the religees are allowed to make statements like, "The world was created in seven days ... " and we're supposed to just nod our heads and agree. Thousands of years from now, there just may be people who believe that the "Harry Potter" series of books is their religion, too.

Cameron makes a living off of religion, so of course, he's going to disagree with Hawking.

my daughters teacher is christian and she stated to her class that she feels uncomfortable teaching evolution but she had to and if anyone objected that there was really nothing to...the point i am trying to make---why cant people like this just accept if God is all powerful and created everything then why not the big bang and the world was not ready for sounds much better than the story of adam and rather be born of ancestors of monkeys than that of incest...thank you very much...

When I read these comments It's hard for me to believe that some of you have no fear for your own salvation. I do not need any proof to believe in God, he's all around us. Just take a moment to connect with him, ask him to be in your life, and you will see how change comes. Hawkings should keep his opinion to himself. He is entitled to one, but why share it. Some of us would give our lives for God. Who would you die for?

Well lets see, two guys that don't believe in God. One is dead and the other is in a wheel chair unable to do anything for himself. Maybe he is a little bitter! Our country is in the worst shape it has ever been in, The media has become a joke which is force fed on us, and respect for our fellow man has flown out the window. When you have no faith in anything what is there to live for? I've notice that as man has turned away from God corruption has lifted it's dirty head and the bad guys are winning. Whatever happened to "In God We Trust".

ok, so he needs do you. Where is your proof heaven is real? Because a BOOK says so? Saying he is wrong because of the lack of proof is pretty dumb when you lack it too!!!!!!
