Rihanna -- I'm a Rockstar, NOT A PARENT!!!

6/2/2011 10:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Rihanna is lashing back at the people criticizing her violent new music video for "Man Down" -- scoffing at the notion she's a role model ... saying, "What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent?"

RiRi went to her Twitter page today after the Parents Television Council condemned the "Man Down" video for depicting a premeditated murder and implying killing someone is an acceptable form of revenge.

Rihanna tweeted, "I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice!"

She continued, "We have the freedom to make art, LET US! Its your job to make sure they dont turn out like US."

"U can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD."

it's a music video people, she's right she ain't the parent and it's not her responsibility to teach kids right or wrong. Parents need to live up to the title and teach their kids morals. Too many parents count on the tv or the computer to babysit their kids. YOU HAD YOU KIDS NOW TAKE CARE OF THEM.

@ AnnieSH sorry we're not hypocrites. No talent rejects are just that... white, black, female or male. Goodbye Earl from the D-Chicks was funny. This... this is just plain ****, by a **** starlette, who is never EVER going to amount to much more than ****, no matter who she blows to get into a recording studio.

And one more thing... when this **** can play like Clapton or Santana, shred like Page or Satriani, percuss like Sheila E, key like Winwood or Preston... and/or sing like Freddy Mercury.... Then baby girl,... THEN you get to call yourself a f'g rock star!

And with a "video" like that...she doesn't need to rush into Motherhood...GROW UP RIHANNA!!!

And I also bet she'll feel differently when/if she ever decides to have kids...she'll look back and say.."What was I thinking"?

Charlie Sheen's Watch

Rock star? How about over-produced, record lable created tool?

Yes, totally agree.

This tramp has no talent. She has no idea what the "real world" is about. She attacked her boyfriend and got her ass kicked - now she claims she is a victim and comes across as knowing what the "real world" is about.

Get a life you tramp. You have no talent. You are pathetic. You will be like the rest of the have beens - talentless hacks - in a couple years.

Victim? Get the hell out of here with that. You are nothing more than a corporations entertainment product - pushed onto people as something you are not.

Loser. Get the F out of here with your "US" talk. As if you are a big bad person.

A person who has struggled with the evils of this world would NEVER classify himself as "US." A person who has suffered in this world would get their **** together. They will help themselves first before they brag about trying to help others.

Get out of here!

I don't think she's any kind of rock star just another over hyped and over processed girl singer, but she's right it's not up to her to be anybody's parent or role model.

The PTC overestimates RiRi's importance in the scheme of things. I do get their point: children and teenagers need some sort of positive role models. And in the present world of entertainment, music and politics they have virtually none. It would be great if ANY public figures behaved like adults and accepted responsibility for their actions.
But starting with RiRi seems like the wrong direction to take :D

Parents should control what their ****ty kids watch. Its not the business/actor/tv show/ musician/artist do to express themselves. This PG era about the FCC controlling what happens on tv is really stupid. Like the WWE is going the ****hole ask Ryan Satin. Rhianna has all the rights to shoot whoever the hell she wants in a video if it shows how she feels. Like Marilyn Manson if he wants to burn a ****ing bible let the man burn a ****ing bible. The artist etc. is not here to protect the sanity or mental status of any kids. Parents do your ****ing job and turn the tv off if you don't want your children watching other people's self expression. **** the FCC and **** those lazy, ****ty parents.

She is no rock star. She is a product. A tacky irresponsible product. I'll will never understand why people always use the lowest talent-less way to entertain. Such the easy street. Why would it be so hard to set a good example?

Ginger Snaps Back!

Wow Honestly the video was not that bad, I've seen more violent and "inappropriate" videos than that. The fact that people are over reacting to this instead of the other slutty crap she has been doing is kinda funny

while RiRi is more a product then a person to the public I really hate when these parent groups or religous groups do this...go after the aholes that beat their wives/gf/children not the artists that write about going through it and coming out on top. Better yet be responsible for your role in your childs life, yes its easier to say go ahead watch tv or listen to your Ipod but why do you take a moment to see what they are watching/listening to. it is not up to the people to sensor your childs exposure to the real world...its your job as a PARENT
