Ryan Dunn -- Beer and Shots Before Crash

6/20/2011 10:50 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn spent four hours in a Philadelphia-area bar before he got behind the wheel of his Porsche 911 this morning ... drinking at least 3 beers and 3 shots ... TMZ has learned.

Ryan Dunn

Dunn arrived to a bar called Barnaby's of America in West Chester, PA around 10:30 PM ... to hang out with a small group of male friends.

One of the friends tells TMZ ... Dunn had 3 Miller Lites and 3 "girly shots" between 10:30 PM and 2:10 AM -- nearly a 4 hour span -- but he was "not too drunk to drive."

But according to another person who was inside the bar that night, Dunn was "wasted" -- and "had a lot to drink."

As TMZ previously reported, Dunn crashed his Porsche soon after -- killing himself and an unidentified passenger.  Cops believe speed may have been a factor.

Ryan Dunn is speeding drunk through the forest and hits a tree. . . does the tree make a sound?

I have no compassion for this. If you've ever lost an innocent person from a drunk driving accident you would agree. An old man drunk as **** ran over a friend and scared ****-less stopped on his body then tried to drive away.

I think of this incident as +1 for the Darwin awards.

He just happens to tweet a photo of himself drinking an hour before he dies? How convenient.

sonja i have lost loved ones... from drinking an driving an the "threats" as you call them arent threats just simply stating and by all means if you want to check to make sure im not some random "punk" i can give you the info you need to find out.... and my comment was simply in reply to Tara's comment "Be careful Starly... They've all made it clear only the MADD crew are allowed to speak here. Anyone that's here to pay respect of homage to Dunn is WRONG. We are all dirty rotten sinners for feeling bad for a loss of someone." I have also said on another post i dont condone what he did however i do have the respect of ones who lose family members..... no matter the situation i still show respect to the family

While I do share in the sentiment that this was a senseless accident and a poor decision to drink and drive, I wonder why such hatred? I do feel that he put other drivers on the road in danger and I think that is just wrong. The passenger knew what he was getting into so it is what it is. However, the guy made a mistake. He paid the ultimate price for it. People make mistakes. If it was your kid who decided to get drunk and drive fast and died would you be so hateful? I am positive if you could give him another chance, he would do things different. He made a mistake. Try to show a little class. On another note, many of you bad mouth him for his work. Listen, Jackass may not be Broadway theater, but I and millions of others found it entertaining. The guy entertained me and I will miss him doing so. It sucks. I myself lost a close friend in an accident years ago. He was not drunk, but he was driving around 95 MPH on a road with a 30 MPH speed limit. It was a horrific accident that happened because he made a terrible decision. That doesn't change the pain to his friends and family who had to deal with this. While there are some people out there who do terrible things and I could care less if they die(pedophiles, murderers etc..), a guy who made the mistake of drinking and driving does not qualify as deserving to die as so many of you clowns want to say.

Innocent bystanders such as our children, siblings, parents, friends, spouses... they are more important than some drunk driver that feels it is ok.

The only way to control and eliminate DUI's is...

Drink and Drive:
First offense- Lose license for 5 years, 1 year in jail.
Second offense - Lose license for 10 years, 10 years in jail.
Third offense - Life in Prison.

Drink and Drive and INJURE someone:

First Offense - Permanent loss of license, 20 years in jail.
Second Offense - Life in Prison.

Drink and Drive and KILL someone:
First offense - Life in Prison.

Watch the word get around quicker than a shot of tequila or a beer bottle.

If some jackass wants to take himself out of the gene pool, go ahead by all means, as long as no innocent strangers was sacrificed (by great luck this was the case).

May his journey be peaceful and may his thinking over this down'n under be long and hard.
