Coroner: Ryan Dunn Died Violent Death

6/21/2011 10:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn and his passenger each died as result of both blunt force trauma AND the fire that consumed Dunn's Porsche during the crash Monday morning ... this according to the Chester County Coroner.

Ryan Dunn Cause of Death

The Coroner's Office just released the autopsy results for both men -- who, we're told, were each dead by the time officials arrived at the scene.

Based on the autopsy results, the crash was so violent, it seems it was impossible to determine if the two died from the impact of the crash itself or from the fire that resulted.

Officials say the toxicology results for both men -- which would help determine the role alcohol played in the crash -- will be released in 4 to 6 weeks.

TMZ previously reported, officials believe Dunn's car veered off the highway and crashed in a wooded area Monday morning ... before exploding in flames. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.

I hope they were not conscious when the fire started. That is truly horrible. Yes, drinking and driving is not right. But three drinks and three "girly shots" in 4 hours for a fairly large guy who probably has a very high tolerance is really NOT a lot over the course of 4 hours. Not to mention that he might have been eating at the bar, or ate before he left. Whoever pointed out the skid marks makes a good point. Generally skid marks mean you're reacting to something but who knows? If he was really going 110 mph like some have said on a country-type road, that was a VERY bad decision and let's face it, ANYONE, drunk or sober, could have a very bad cra***** those speeds. I don't think drinking and driving should be condoned, especially with a passenger, but these guys died YESTERDAY and within hours, people were slamming him. Have some respect. Regardless of the choices he made, two people are dead and their loved ones are devastated. I'm sure they will struggle with the choices Ryan made (and Zach made a choice to get into the car with him, I doubt he was forced!) and they will have to live with Ryan's choices for the rest of their lives. Let's not make it worse for them.

Thats not true AT ALL. A bar can DEFINITELY be held liable. This is almost entirely seen when it causes injury or death. If a patron is wobbling, slurring, nodding out, and of the clear evidence of impairment: and the bartender doesnt ask if you are driving? If the answer is yes, they better volunteer to call you a cab or if the person is stubborn ask for their keys or they will call the police. If it can be proven that a bartender let a patron leave the bar blitzed without asking if they are driving and that person dies or is injured or causes anyone else to....that bar is F*$KED. The bar I go to will actually PAY for your cab if you live with in ten miles...reguardless it can become their responsibility for either not cutting you off, never asking if you are driving after clearly drunk, or not reporting the patron if he takes off anyway. IF somebody is hurt afterwards? TRUST ME THAT BAR IS LEGALLY PARTIALLY LIABLE.

Is this a cover up, Does anyone think this could have contributed to the crash?
Porsche is recalling about 1,700 of its most powerful 911s because wheel hubs may wear prematurely, resulting in a compromised wheel-retention system that could lead to a crash, the automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

He didn't make sure people left saftely. If he had that much to drink as they say, and he got into his own car to drive, how is that safe? duh. And there is nothing wrong with being a country girl. No, bartenders don't babysit.

Really? Really?

@Jpierce: You're missing what I am saying. The bartender is just as liable as Ryan Dunn is. He allowed Ryan Dunn to leave in the "state" he was in and drive. As a bartender you know two things: 1. Serve your customers, 2. Make sure they leave safely. No ands, ifs, or buts about it. Yes, it's Ryan Dunn's fault for getting into the car drunk and driving away (if the results show that), but it's the bartenders fault for sending him on his way in the "state" he was in. You never do that.

Too bad they didn't get it on tape it would have been a great intro for jacka$$ 4.

I love how you are all posting saying that this is the bartenders fault for not taking his keys or cutting him off. The bartender wasn't driving, was he? I didn't think so.

Which is it

CHECK IT OUT- the bar is NOT responsible in the state of PA for the actions of their patrons, especially AFTER they have left. There are moral decisions obviously, but legally...NONE
