'Sister Wives' Family -- Just Like The Gays!

7/12/2011 7:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The Mormons and the gays -- they don't always get along ... but thanks to a brand new lawsuit about to be filed by "Sister Wives" star Kody Brown, it seems they have more in common than you'd think!

0712_sisterwives_flag_BN

Brown and his multi-wife "plural" family claim they're filing a lawsuit against the state of Utah tomorrow -- challenging the bigamy law that makes their lifestyle illegal.

The Brown family attorney posted a statement on his blog saying, "We are not demanding the recognition of polygamous marriage. We are only challenging the right of the state to prosecute people for their private relations and demanding equal treatment with other citizens in living their lives according to their own beliefs."

The attorney adds, "It is a challenge designed to benefit not just polygamists but all citizens who wish to live their lives according to their own values -- even if those values run counter to those of the majority in the state."

The legal argument is virtually identical to the one made by supporters of gay marriage ... which is illegal in most U.S. states ... including Utah.

So, we gotta ask ...

I didn't read the other comments so if this has been said, I apologize. But Mormons do NOT practice polygamy and haven't in over a hundred years. Get your facts straight before publishing a story. Just sayin'.

There are a whole bunch of reasons why we should NOT allow polygamous marriage. By far, the biggest one is that in countries where it IS allowed, women are uniformly treated as property, as second class citizens and have very few rights, if any. This is not the direction the U.S. should be headed and only naive, childish individuals would argue that "we aren't free if everyone can't live exactly the way they want to." People in the U.S. ARE free to live with whomever and however many people they want to. They just can't call it a marriage.

And this is a major reason why many who are against legalizing gay marriage ARE against it. Because they were worried that it would open the door to every lunatic demanding that they too be treated "equally" in whatever perversion they want to indulge in.

And lookee here, that's exactly what's happening. Huh, they WERE right.

I support those who believe that two or more legal adults should be free to marry as many people of whatever sex they want to. At the same time I believe that marriage is overrated.

There's this rabbit that lives on my mom's house. Been there for years... dunno how many generations.

'Bout a week ago I walked out the front door, and there was the rabbit, just sitting there, chilling.

We stared at each other for a little while. I had to eventually leave b/c I had to run some errands. Really weird.

Can't this guy afford a decent hair cut, he looks like he's stuck in the 60's. The woman never look like they go to the beauty shop. Bunch of white trash.

You say the United States doesn't need to recognize individual equality when it comes to sexual preference and that homosexuality is a choice.

I say the United States shouldn't discriminate against anyone because of their sexual preference, race, ethnicity or gender.

Attraction is not a choice and neither is homosexuality. Just because it is different doesn't mean it is a disorder. But let's play devil advocate and say it is a disorder. How does that effect the argument that everyone is entitled to equal rights?

Your entire argument is built around "choice". Black people didn't choose their skin colour and had to overcome a lot of adversity, and still do to some extent, simply because the rule makers shared the same attitude as you. An arrogance born of ignorance, driven by fear.

The rest of your comment is misguided, at best. Gays aren't campaigning for special treatment. Just the same treatment.

And their way of live may offend you, but gays have been recorded in the history of human civilisation for thousands of years. This isn't a new fad. I suggest you study a bit more. Ancient Greece is a popular starting point.

You make it sound like denying them the right to marry will somehow eradicate them - which is clearly the only thing that would help you sleep easy. Many of them already live like married couples. What exactly are you fighting?

TMZ,,,, got a hot tip for you to report to your apology crying back door group.
I was watching an old show of Sandford and Son, and this character named Bubba, saw Lamont and his friend go into a bar, then noticed everyone in the bar were men, but were not acting like men, you know.. they were carrying purses, speaking with a sweet voice, twisting heads etc. Well, anyway, Bubba got rid of his female companion and headed to the junk yard to let Lamont's Father, Fred know what he had seen. Fred thought Bubba was crazy for reporting Lamont going in to a bar with his good friend Rollo. Now, when the two went into the bar, they had no idea it was a speciality. OK, then Bubba tells Fred that there was not a woman in the place because it was a GAY bar. I think you should go find this Bubba character and make him apologize, I mean, he said this in a popular tv series, where children could see the show and hear it....disgusting. The character of Bubba can be found in the cemetery, he is dead, but perhaps you can go after the show's writer. SAH...s.

By the way TMZ, thanks to your ignorance in reporting every time Tom **** and Harry who got their feelings hurt when someone said ANY WORD you thought was associated with your kind, I will NEVER support a thing that you people want. You did not worry if the people you reported would lose jobs, or support for their families, so why should anyone support you? Your request to take a part in the poll will not show the scores of people who changed their opinions toward your rights....due to your own doings. Pat yourself on the back, or let GLADD do it for you. Never I say........Never..........

So, TMZ people are okay with gay marriage, but not polygamy? WTH? Freedom is freedom. Either you agree with it, or you don't. What other people do in their bedrooms is none of my business. As long as no one is being physically harmed, MYOB people!

Told you so...I told you people YEARS ago that if you permitted GAY marriage, that soon, the polygamists, the bestiality crowd, those who support incest would soon use GAY marriage a a platform to permit their lifestyle too.
