He didnt "land" the gig, he is very popular among latinos he has been in many telenovelas and is considered one of the hottest men. He is the specific reason why so many people watched the awards show not becasue of some "rumor".

His work as an actor and model is very well known and respected among the latino community. His popularity is the reason why JLO chose him to be in her video. He didn't go audition and beg her to please let him be in her video. She personally called and waited for a response from him for well over a month. (She herself told Univision this) AND the award show has been wanting him to host this show since last year but he was unable to because he was working on a play in Mexico. So, next time you guys want to make a comment about something or someone you guys know nothing about, I suggest you consult it with people who do know. In this case, the latino community.
