Matt Damon RIPS Reporter

Matt Damon Teachers
Matt Damon channeled the spirit of Will Hunting this weekend at an education rally in DC -- unapologetically OWNING a hapless reporter, who implied teachers are ONLY motivated by fear of losing their jobs.

How do you like them apples?

Hmmm... intrinsically paternalistic. So... Matt, are you saying you'd like to see a matriarchal society where women are in charge? Like a woman President?

Interesting... I wouldn't vote for a President just b/c she was a woman, though.

...What about PMS? Can she handle that or is she gonna be bitchy for three days? Maybe a menopausal chick would be best.

Our school system is actually getting worse and people are acting like teachers should be getting raises. I am not for standardized test (the standards are going to be made by politicians who don't know anything) but these unions are bad news.

What if the kid in the background with the orange shirt yelled "You Just Got Served!"

Way to go Matt Damon!!! This comes from the whole right wing hate against education. The cameraman should definitely find a new career - bottom 10% indeed.

You are truly a class act Matt Damon!

I mean honestly lets give the guy a break. I'm glad that people have intelligent arguments no matter what side your on.

Do you realize the kind of answer Kate Hudson, or Miley Cirus would have given?

Bravo Matt. Most of us are fighting the good fight....

Way to go, Matt. That female reporter sounds like she's related to George W. Bush. Teacher's don't do it for the money; they do it because they think helping others is noble and time well spent. That's true for the majority of teachers. Even if 10 percent of them are poor at their job, they're still vastly underpaid and underappreciated. To the guy(s) who says teachers make $75,000 you are WAY off. A starting salary in the U.S. hovers between $28K and $32K depending on location. After 15 or 20 years they will be lucky to be earning $42,000 before taxes. And if you think teaching is easy sit in on a junior high class some day -- you'll be singing a different tune when the day is over. The only educational professional who would make $70 grand a year is a 65+ year old tenured college or university professor, but most never earn that much -- or last that long.

I feel sorry for all these people posting. It looks like most of you never had the joy to have a good teacher in your life.

My mother was a public school elementary school teacher for 30 years. I do not remember a day where my mother left for work after 6 30 am or came home before 5 30 pm, so the idea that the hours are short is simply ridiculous. Not to mention teachers are given little to no planning time during the day. Instead their planning time turns into recess duty, lunch duty, or bus duty. So every night after my mother came home she spend 2-3 hours grading and planning.

It disgusts me that there was actually a teacher on her arguing that the job is part time, her children are significantly impaired if she is spending no time planning for them.

Teaching is a profession that people have lost passion for because it is not supported properly. Give our teachers the resources they need to help our children grow and then you will find teachers who truly have a love of teaching.

Only non-teachers think it's a cushy job! I think everyone should have to work a week in a classroom before they have an opinion. I GUARANTEE they wouldn't think it was easy!

As a veteran teacher, I appreciate Mr. Damon's defense of our chosen profession. I also like the fact that he admits regret for voting for Obama. Takes a big man to own up.

Matt Dammon told people to vote for Obama. Now the country is a mess! Oh his movies have tanked since he started to opening his mouth. He lost his Republican fan base. :-) Maybe the teachers union can help him save his career. Not!
