The Monkees

Don't Blame US for

MAJOR Tour Screwup!

The Monkees ain't too busy to put anybody down these days ... because they're coming out swinging against the people they blame for screwing up the rest of their concert tour.

Earlier today, the band announced they would be canceling the remaining 9 dates on their U.S. tour ... but they wouldn't explain why.

Now, TMZ has spoken with a rep for drummer/ lead vocalist Micky Dolenz -- who tells us, "Management had booked a number of dates with the venues without running them by the group first ... so we had to cancel the remaining dates."

The rep adds, "Micky is disappointed but his solo tour is still going strong for the rest of the year."

There are rumors that the tour was canceled because Micky had checked himself into rehab for a substance abuse problem -- but the rep tells us it's total BS ... saying, "It has nothing to do with any sort of substance abuse whatsoever."

We tried getting in contact with the main person responsible for booking the tour -- but we were advised by his company that the man "no longer works here anymore."

Ouch.

Hello every body. I met Davy Jones 3 times and each time he acted very down to earth. Jones was one of a kind guy! He treated every one with respect. I did cry over him being gone!!! I met Mickey twice and he was a real jerk to me at The Sands Hotel in Vegas before they tore it down. The Monkees were in Concert there. When Davy toured with his book he wrote about him self he showed up at a book store to sign his new book and we spoke again! I called Davy once on the phone when he lived in Beaver Town, PA. and he was what i alway's wanted to be "A Nice Guy". The world will miss him, Steven Dunetz

Just because it didn't end for him to enter rehab doesn't mean that he doesn't need it. I read that he started back heavily, at least drinking, after the death of his friend Harry Nilsson in 1994. That is about the time he began to age poorly. I also read that he only occasionally drinks a few glasses of wine but those are clearly mixed drinks in his hands in some of the youtube videos. He's still a great performer though it's sad because he was always the best Monkee.
